Modest establishment offering a classic Puerto Rican menu plus a lunch buffet.

Just really good food, period. Since it was our first time, the staff suggested we try the buffet. Definitely a good call. The buffet is served by a staff member, and she loaded the plates as though it were a dish from the menu.
We had the pulled pork, chicken, mixed vegetables, yellow rice, black beans and plantains. And the most delicious soup I’ve had in a long time. Everything tasted like what it was – no overpowering seasonings or sauces – just good clean flavor. We had plenty to eat, but didn’t feel weighed down.
This is a hidden gem. Zero complaints or suggestions for improvement. You will eat well here!

Had lunch with my husband there today. The yucca fries were delicious. The ropa vieja in my husband’s mofongo was perfect. The chicken in my mofongo was not tender and cut into fairly large chunks making it difficult to enjoy. The mofongo itself had too soft of a texture for our liking. The flavor was there, but the consistency was not. The atmosphere was very inviting. The street mural of the Viejo San Juan is absolutely gorgeous. Laura was our server. She providef top-notch service being extremely attentive, personable and friendly. Please consider her a HUGE asset to your business.

I’ve only eaten the lunch buffet but it’s great food and service. I think it’s great that the buffet includes salad and dessert. I’m not really a fan of salad but this their is decent. If you’re lucky you’ll get flan for dessert. The plantains are my favorite. One of these days I’ll have to try the mofongo.

My friend took me to El Coquí and tried the buffet. Decent price, great service, and good food to eat. Love it.

Food was absolutely fantastic. Baccalaito was right on point, the Rice was perfect, the habichuelas were seasoned exactly as I remember my childhood, the fried fish & pernir was also perfect (minus I feel Sofrito wasn’t used but the cost of Aji Dulce & Cilantro here is too much so I understand).

Visited El Coqui for the first time and had the buffet. Everything in the buffet was fresh and flavorful.
We went on a Friday, and we were informed they only have the fish on Fridays, so that worked out in our favor because that was also pretty good.
We ordered a pastel and an empanadilla on the side that I was not too fond of. It seemed the pastel had very little filling, and the empanadilla had no flavor in its filling.
My son ordered the tri-pleta and said it was REALLY good.
Overall, we will definitely be back!

El Coquí Puerto Rican Restaurant
Everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were authentic and reminded me of home. The service was excellent — warm, friendly, and attentive. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy real Puerto Rican food. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We came here for lunch on a weekday. We ordered the sandwich, tacos, and El Coqui. We liked the tacos. The food was okay, such as the tacos, fried plaintain, and sandwich. Their fries were undercooked and definitely frozen. The Puerto Rican roast pork, rice, and Puerto Rican meat pie wrapped in banana leaf were not that good. Overall, aside from the food not being compatible with our taste buds, we did not have a terrible experience.

I ordered a Tripleta plate. Tripleta had an extra thin of ham with some pork slices and a little bit of cheese. Pork was moist. The white rice had no flavor, a bit mushy. let’s me talk about the beans. this is a Puerto Rican restaurant not a Mexican restaurant yet the pinto beans tasted like borracho beans. they didn’t have the “habichuela” or any Puerto Rican flavor. We also ordered an “empanada de carne”. The meat filling had no flavor. none. as if it was cooked with no seasoning. the Goya frozen empanadas taste better! this place use to be good once but it has just gone down in flavor.
