This review is for the location in Belle, MO. I am stating this because there is NO way the reviews described below match the restaurant that I encountered today.
This is by far the WORST Mexican restaurant that I have ever been to.
The service is deplorable. Our waters, chips, and salsa were never refilled or even asked about.
Two of our three meals were served after about 15 minutes. We were the only three in the restaurant. There were three employees.
The third meal was not served until 10 minutes AFTER we had to ask about it.
The fish tacos were beautiful ON THE MENU. What was served was three plain soft taco shells with 2-3 small chunks of dried out fish. There was no slaw, no Chipotle sauce. Disgusting.
The California burrito that was served was great in SIZE and that’s it. The topping of jalapeños and avocado DID NOT match or even resemble the menu description of spinach sauce with roasted corn and poblamo peppers.
The seafood enchiladas were the smallest portion that I have seen in ANY Mexican restaurant ever. The shrimp as so undercooked that we did not feel comfortable eating it.
Not one of the meals would qualify as good, let alone great.
$47 for three people isn’t bad..$47 for three people leaving hungry and unsatisfied is horrible.
Will not recommend to any one at any time. Taco Bell is Michelin starred compared to this waste of a kitchen.

As far as I am concerned one star is at least one star too many for this establishment. The overall atmosphere was fine, nothing special either way however both the service and food were deplorable. To start, we saw our waitress a total of maybe three times while we were there, and there was another woman working who I assume was another waitress who did nothing other than play on her phone, including when we were at the register trying to pay and she was standing behind the counter. To her credit once she finally realized we were standing there she did put her phone down but she then walked away to do who knows what in a different section of the restaurant. On top of that, when the meals were delivered two of them showed up at the same time, the third showed up about 5 minutes later after we asked where it was.
Now on to the food itself, as I mentioned we had a total of three dishes, we had the enchiladas mazatlan, the burrito California, and the fish tacos who’s exact name I don’t actually remember. To start, the fish tacos were nothing more than a couple small, sad chunks of fish on dry tortillas with a sauce that tastes like barbecue sauce mixed with sour cream. For reference, the menu lists a chipotle sauce for it and shows/lists pico de gallo on the tacos themselves (picture of the online menu attached, it matches the printed menu in the restaurant itself). The enchiladas mazatlan were incredibly tiny and covered in a basic cheese sauce as opposed to the special sauce listed on the menu (again, picture attached), and the shrimp in one of the enchiladas was so undercooked none of us present thought it would be safe to consume. Finally onto the burrito California which was topped with avocado, jalapeno, and cheese sauce instead of the roasted corn, poblano peppers, and spinach cream sauce listed on the menu (again, picture attached). The avocado and jalapeno were meant to be inside the burrito not on top, and somehow the sour cream was one of the most flavorful components of the burrito itself, even beating out honest to God jalapenos that tasted incredibly bland.
Unfortunately I did not think to take pictures of the food that was served for comparison, I think I was just baffled by how a restaurant reviewed so highly could be quite so disappointing.
Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone under any circumstances and frankly I have absolutely no idea how it is possibly reviewed as highly as it is. To be quite frank, the last time I went to a Taco Bell it was a better representation of a Mexican restaurant

Good experience! Placed a big takeout order online for quite a few people. They got the order 100% correct even though there were custom requests.
I also walked out of the building forgetting a bag and the manager chased me down to make sure I got all my food.
Would order again when in Belle.

I have eaten here several times. Very good Mexican food. A really large variety on the menu. The portions are really generous. I usually like a Corona with my Mexican meals & they serve it nice & cold. I noticed they have Dos Equis & a few domestic beers. I saw another reviewer mentioned their Margaritas. The menu prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the really large portion sizes. The staff are friendly & frequently check to make sure you have everything you need.
I would definitely recommend El Charro for lunch or dinner.

Our only complaint was the actual food was not very good compared to nearly all other Mexican restaurants we have been to. Food lacked flavor, which may of just been an off day for them.

I think we eat here about 2 times a week. My daughter loves the fries and cheese quesadillas. Boyfriend and I sometimes try to try something new on the menu. We always feel welcomed when we come in. Amazing service. Definitely worth going and eating in person there.
