This place is a cash grab for people driving through. Everything is extra, chips and even more tortillas when you order a 25 dollar fajitas. Who only uses three small tortillas? Service was poor. Our drinks were never refilled. I wish I had listened to the more recent reviews. The steak in my fajitas was overcooked and the cheapest cut of meat with no seasoning. It also comes with no cheese.

Authentic Mexican cuisine. The food was nice, waiting time was decent and staff behavior was polite. It was over crowded for a long weekend though.

Nice place and resonabilty priced, nice Staff.. needs a make-over of the interior, salsa is not spicy at , so I’ll from Texas, I like it hot and chunky . But very satisfying, overall.

Great Food, Margarita Needs Improvement.
I recently dined at this Mexican restaurant and had a generally positive experience. The camarones and beef nachos appetizer was fantastic, and the enchiladas and burrito were delicious and well-prepared. However,
I would have given a 5-star review if the margaritas had been better. Unfortunately, they tasted too much like the mixer, lacking the fresh, vibrant flavor I was hoping for.Despite that, the overall food quality and service were excellent.
I’d definitely return for the great dishes and hope the margaritas improve in the future!

I want to frame the three-star rating as nothing was objectively bad, but nothing was noteworthy either. The house margarita was served in a pint glass and was as weak as you would expect from the pictures. Prices were great though, with plenty of options. My chile relleno was super water-logged and got cold faster than the rest of my food. In hindsight I should have ordered a cheese enchilada to avoid overlading on not-very-seasoned ground beef. But, at the end of the day I was full and didn’t absolutely hate anything, and didn’t feel like we overpaid.

Wow, we had the best Mexican food. Our server was polite and attentive. We had a very nice visit, I definitely suggest this restaurant for all the travelers commuting up and down Interstate 81.

Never in my life have I had to pay for red salsa for the chips, or pay for white sauce for the chips, and only the first chips were free. Chips and salsa always come with the meal in every single Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to! I can understand paying for cheese dip, but not for red sauce or chips.
Do not recommend unfortunately!!

We love El Charro’s. We have had most everything on the menu now and love it all. My daughter comes just to drink the salsa. My favorite dish is the shrimp tacos. I had the pork carnitas this time and it was very flavorful. The staff is very attentive and pleasant and the service is always quick.
**Still loving El Charro’s

Ridiculous in their prices 3 small quesadillas 3 sides of rice 1 cheese dip and 2 drinks was 70 freaking dollars. The new menu is crap and the good isn’t as good as it was before. We will just keep going to the one on route 11 or the one in Bridgewater. Highway robbery this place and the food isn’t worth the price. Go somewhere else.

I grew up eating at El Charro in Woodbridge, VA, almost every week—sometimes multiple times a week—especially during my college years. Living in Palm Beach, Florida now, it’s tough to find a great Mexican restaurant that hits the spot the way El Charro does. So, on a recent business trip, I made sure to stop by El Charro in Harrisonburg, VA, for an early dinner, and I was not disappointed.
One of my all-time favorites is the Tacos De Carne Asada—absolutely delicious! It had been a few years since my last visit, and I have to say, I was thrilled to enjoy some of my favorite dishes again. The flavors were vibrant, and the salsa, while slightly different from what I remember, was still incredibly tasty.
The food was ordered and served quickly, which was great, though I did have to wait a bit longer than expected for a drink & Salsa refill and a to-go box. Despite that small hiccup, El Charro has consistently delivered fantastic meals no matter which location I visit. I wish you would open a location in Florida!
I didn’t make it to my Woodbridge spot this time, but if Pepe and Daniel are still working at any of the locations, cheers to you both—I hope to see you in the future!
