On my way home to California I found this little gem .
The waitress was very nice and welcoming even the cook came out to greet us and mentioned that the green chili ️ was hot
PERFECT!!! . My wife ordered the birria ramen and I ordered the huevos rancheros with a side of bacon as you can see my plate was clean . We plan on traveling back to Amarillo so we will stop on our way to eat . Thank you for treating us like family and serving my wife and I some of the greatest food New Mexico has to offer A+

The food is always great, the service is fast/attentive and the vibes are homely. I had no issues with the servor and I didn’t feel like my table wasn’t being taken care of. The food is always delicious, I always recommend the Menudo! A nice place to go for a bite to eat and the prices are decent.

Stopped for lunch for some Mexican food and this place was perfect. Karen was our terrific server and provided quality service with a smile. I had the combo #2 and my wife had the chicken enchiladas. The food was hot and tasty.

Salsa for a table of four was in a one ounce cup asked for more waitress said they are $3.95 each (picture provided). Kids Mac and cheese $7.99 is a small what looks like boxed Kraft. The chilli Burger plate $14.95 was less than good chilli taste like Hormel with extra beans. Personal opinion is if I lived near I would start eating at McDonald’s nextdoor (I don’t like McDonald’s either)

Excellent food and service! The cosmetics could use some work, but that didn’t detract from my rating. The place is a family run business dishing out authentic Mexican food. It appeared that the dad was the cook, mom was serving, grandma took care of payments, and the little girl was brightening up the place with her smile. We had chicken and beef enchiladas and everything was delicious. The salsa is very good and just the right amount of spiciness. Definitely recommend!

We had very good Mexican food in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, then on the way home to Las Vegas, Nevada, we had GREAT Mexican food in Gallup at El Charrito. Their enchilada sauce (red) and green chile sauce are the best we’ve found throughout the Southwest in decades. (One quibble: since a change in ownership, they no longer do flat (stacked) enchiladas, only the rolled ones. But our friendly, efficient server assured me I would love them, and she was right. They were delicious.)
Hubby said their Chile Relleno is still the best anywhere. Not ridiculously puffy and deep-fried Poblano, dripping with grease like you get in most restaurants, but a proper New Mexico long Chile, with a stem, stuffed with just the right amount of cheese, coated in an egg batter and pan fried. Perfect. Sopapaipillas were just right, not as heavy as Navajo Fry Bread but not the brittle things we’ve encountered at some places lately.
We bought 4 quarts of Green Chile and Red Chile Sauces also from these nice folks.

I would highly recommend everyone to stop by and get a bite to eat here the services was great the food was delicious the atmosphere was kinda old haha but I enjoyed the food staff were friendly so if your looking for a place to eat stop by El Charrito and get some food
