“It’s a Mexican FAMILY Restaurant…” Elias Benavidez, the founder of the El Caporal Restaurants, was frequently heard explaining to employees and customers. The first El Caporal was opened in 2004 with that mission to create a Mexican family restaurant, where good food and a comfortable welcome was for everyone. To walk into an El Caporal is to walk into your local Mexican restaurant, and it goes beyond just fajitas, tacos, and margaritas (Although we make delicious fajitas, tacos, and margaritas!). We offer a wide variety of classic Mexican dishes made with the freshest ingredients. Our menu is inspired by our heritage; merging Latin flavors with American favorites.

This establishment certainly has the potential to become a highly favored dining destination. The online ordering process was notably efficient and straightforward, which was greatly appreciated. The portion sizes are quite substantial, making it an excellent option for those who enjoy sharing meals. The freshness of the food is commendable, although a touch more seasoning might enhance the flavor for some palates. While the tomatillo sauce was delightful, the chicken in the enchiladas seemed to lack the distinctive Mexican flavor profile I typically enjoy. Nevertheless, it was certainly palatable. I was unsure if the additional chips were complimentary or if they were part of my order, as I had specifically ordered chips and white sauce and received two bags. One bag was smaller and included a small white sauce and salsa. Had I been aware that chips were provided with all orders, I would not have placed a separate order for them. Perhaps it would be beneficial to advertise that all orders include a small portion of chips and salsa, but we will certainly be mindful of this for future visits. I anticipate returning to sample other menu items and will choose to dine in to experience the table service. Congratulations on a job well done, El Caporal!

Amazing food and margaritas!! Very attentive and friendly staff! Our server was on point and we were so happy with our first dining experience that we will be regulars! I was so pleased with how much steak I had on my fajitas…way more than at other Mexican establishments. The prices are quite reasonable for the amount of amazingly fresh food received!

Came to VA to visit with family and was craving Mexican food . After googling a few places and reading the reviews, my family and I decided to try this place . Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with a warm welcome. We were served with chips and salsa immediately after we were seated, the chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. They have a wide selection which made it hard to choose from. I ordered shrimp, scallops and chicken with a side of cactus , rice and beans omggggg it was hot, fresh, seasoned to perfection and absolutely delicious, I immediately asked for another side of rice after trying it .This was the best Mexican food I have ever eaten in my entire life omgggg before I headed back to my state the next day, my family and I went back and ordered food to take back home with us . We only had one problem we had a very unpleasant waiter , he was impatient and seemed to not want to be at work. One of his colleagues saw the look of vexation on my face and he asked me if everything was ok , I told him no and explained why, he then stepped in to help smooth things over which was very nice of him to do so, he was very patient, pleasant and friendly. If you’re looking for authentic and delicious Mexican food, 10/10 I recommend! You will not be disappointed

The food is delicious though EVERY time I go they give me unpleasant service. I always tip generously and give positive energy as a customer. I started to believe it has something to do with my skin color because they are not the same with their other customers if you know what I mean. It’s unacceptable I will not be back.

I’m from California every town I go to I look for the best homecooking like my Grandma used to make. I can say El Caporal has met this challenge! They have excellent servers and the food is awesome! I have tried everything on the menu. Been here 12 months and eat here 3 times a week. The best hands down and their jalapeño and habanero salsa is the bomb!!!!!!

This restaurant has become my favorite go to for Mexican food. I would recommend any of the fajitas and a big fan of their chili. Riano’s every time I’ve eaten there the service and attention to the customer is outstanding. All the employees are friendly and you can tell they really care about their job And satisfying everyone.

The big draw to this place is great food (machismo burrito with jalapenos and without beans, chimichonga, chips/salsa)and excellent service. We had effectively two very professional servers right on top of our every request. My girlfriend ordered a Patron margherita…it was strong. Beers were cold. The setting is as expected with music sung in Spanish and a large flat screen behind the bar. It was very cool to see horse racing on tv instead of football. I didnt see the outdoor dining that is in some of the pics…mustve been in the back. Bathrooms were single person and clean. Id recommend! If i find myself in these parts again, ill stop by.
