I came here on the strength of the reviews. And it’s true. They serve pan Latin, French and Italian fare with the panache of a high end eatery. All at a mid-price point.
While the outside looks like the inside could be a dive (not necessarily a bad thing) this little gem was adorable inside. A long banquet and small tables… the place was cozy. Some customers stood around a tiny bar area. I had a good view of the open kitchen, where the chef enticed us with delicious aromas. The food- red snapper, ceviche, lentils, gnocchi, all excellent.
The wine selection was very good. We had a bottle of a French Sauvignon blanc that complemented the fish dishes.
Service was friendly and attentive. I love that the owner came by to say hello and to see what we thought. We told him we will be back.
* Note: OpenTable had no open tables (lol) but calling the restaurant secured a table.

This is a hidden gem in Port Chester, El Calejon is where you can experience the rich flavors of authentic Latin cuisine. The staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Fabulous food and attentative service! Came here for restaurant week and loved it. The tuna tartare was delicious and the sauce for their steak is chef’s kiss. Portion sizes are large and there’s plenty of nearby street parking.

All the food was excellent. We had the oysters, octopus and mussels to start. The octopus was grilled to perfection with the right amount of char. My wife had the American Red Snapper with gnocchi; it was very filling. I had the Grilled salmon with white rice, ahogado and mango sauce which was also great; would come here again.
