We booked our table in advance to avoid waiting and were seated immediately. They do have covered outdoor seating with attractive lighting, which would be a nice option for warmer months.
The food was just okay and not worth the price. The chicken parmesan and salmon were decent but not memorable. My son, who usually enjoys trying different cuisines, was very disappointed.
The service was poor. Our waiter was not very attentive, and despite informing the staff that it was a special occasion, the experience did not reflect that. We requested hot water when we were seated but didn’t receive it until just before leaving. Water refills had to be requested repeatedly, and overall, staff attention was lacking even though the restaurant was busy.
Overall, nothing really stood out, food, service, and ambience were all just okay. Parking is available in the back, but we won’t be returning.
The room was dim, calm, and very relaxing. We could carry on a conversation without any issues of having to raise our voices. The wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, and help choosing dinner very easy.
I started off my dinner with an Old Fashion, then ordered the Honey Mustard Salmon. The Salmon was flaky, moist, and delicious. It was served with a scalloped style potato that was rich and flavorful. I capped my meal off with a nice slice of cake with an Irish Coffee.
A truly wonderful dining experience and truthfully worth coming back. You should check El Barzon out for yourself, I believe you will have a great experience just as I did.
The presentation of the food was nice. Food was ok
Salmon, Cecina el Barzon, Pollo Al Limone are the pics I took. Kind of sloppy. And the food was a 7/10 in taste.
Guacamole side was good. Beer was cold.
Might be back…Maybe summer time….
There was 5 of us and we averaged $40 each plus tip ($50)
Do the math….Worth it? probably not…Not being cheap just realistic.
The owner was nice and gave us a sample of some pasta.
First, reservations were not honored. When we arrived for our 8:00 PM reservation, there was a line of 15+ couples who had also reserved tables and were being told they could wait up to an hour because “the 6 PM crowd doesn’t want to leave.” On one of the busiest dining nights of the year, better planning should be expected. We were told we could either continue waiting or seat ourselves on the patio. Guests began rushing to claim patio tables, many of which were still dirty from previous parties. Luckily, we were able to snag a small table that was made.
We placed our appetizer and dinner orders immediately after sitting down. About 15 minutes later, our server returned and asked if we were ready to order, meaning our orders had not been entered. While he was doing his best and clearly overwhelmed, it was obvious that management had not staffed appropriately for the evening.
Our appetizer, which our server told us came with garlic bread, arrived very cold. We were so hungry at that point that we didn’t send it back. The bread itself didn’t arrive until about 20 minutes later, despite several reminders. The “garlic bread” turned out to be plain, untoasted white bread with garlic butter on the side.
To make matters worse, the patio heater stopped working for a period of time, and we were left sitting in the cold. Thankfully it came back on near the end of dinner, but it made for an uncomfortable experience.
When our entrées finally arrived, they were underwhelming, especially for the price. $30 for three pieces of shrimp over what tasted like basic spaghetti and jarred sauce was disappointing. Tasted like a jarred sauce from Walmart. My boyfriend’s portion was so small he finished it almost immediately.
The only highlight of the evening was the bottle of Moscato.
Overall, what should have been a special night felt chaotic and poorly managed. Our server tried, but the lack of organization and preparation from management unfortunately ruined the experience.
Valentine’s Day at El Barzon was unfortunately a major disappointment and probably the worst idea I ever had.
