I feel incredibly sorry for Virginia Beach residents that they believe this is good Mexican food. As someone who lived in San Diego for the majority of their life, I can truly say, this is NOT good Mexican food.
First of all, their house margaritas are so incredibly sweet. The juice they used for the watermelon and passion fruit was so thick and there was hardly any tequila. The only saving grace is their happy hour prices for the margaritas, but then again, you’re not getting much alcohol in there, so… expensive juice?
The sauce on my Chile Relleno was so salty, I couldn’t eat it. The chicken on my tostada was dry. The meats on my husband’s three tacos were also dry.
My hard shell taco, whatever meat that was, resembled canned dog food in terms of texture. It was mushy and also lacked any Mexican flavors.
The rice and beans are flavorless.
There was only a few other people there and still, service was slow and we were not checked on. They looked more inconvenienced to have us there.
How this place was ever voted best Mexican restaurant is beyond me. The standards here in Virginia Beach must be pretty low or y’all truly have never had good Mexican food. At this point, I’d rather go to Taco Bell than eat here again. At least I wouldn’t be spending a bunch of money for poor quality Mexican food.
Needless to say, we will not come back and won’t recommend.

A little out of the way location that’s worth the trip! Big booths and big food. This place nails the chips and salsa; add a crock of queso and you might not make it to the main course! The entrees come packed with plenty of food and lots of flavor. Being in the court house district puts this place a little out of the way but it’s definitely worth the trip! The spaciousness and colors give a relaxed feel also, making this a great spot for conversation over food.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant!
The food is always tasty, hot and delicious!! We’ve dined here since they opened and in 75 or so visits, we’ve never had a bad meal. The can accommodate a solo diner or groups up to 20 or more. We’ve had several large dinner parties with neighbors there and all have been spectacular. The restaurant is very clean, spacious and has several TV’s. The bar is loaded with the best drinks and is very welcoming.
We pre-ordered and picked up their food this year for our Super Bowl party. It was nice and hot, delicious as always, and the ” hit” of the evening. I kept getting asked “where did you get this great food” from our guests. Needless to say, there was very little left at the end of the game.
Chuey is awesome and runs a great restaurant. He makes you feel welcome and is always very friendly and smiling…as is his staff!!! They provide fantastic service and are quick to respond if needed. The restaurant is located in a great easy access location with plenty of parking. This is our “go-to” restaurant and I highly recommend it to anyone living in or visiting the area!!!

Good place for Mexican food… Everything was hot and fresh. I got the chicken with mushrooms on a bed of Mexican rice topped with white cheese sauce served with piping hot flour tortillas. I also tried their alpastor taco and carne asada taco. The alpastor had a good umami flavor with the pineapple. The carne asada was flavorful as well. Both were served with cilantro, onions and of course you gotta have the lime too.The service was top notch, my drink was never really empty. If I had anything for critique it would be the thickness of the tortilla chips they give with white sauce and salsa. They were a bit on the thicker side. I prefer light and crispy chips. Overall would definitely be back.
