I ordered the combo fajitas and they were really good flavorful and filling. They also give you a poblano soup that is delicious. Plus, you can bring your own alcohol, which is a nice bonus. I’d definitely come back when visiting.

This place is in an awful part of town and the parking lot isn’t clean and it’s around the corner from the entrance. But once you get passed that… my God this was amazing. Had the rib eye. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever tasted in my life. Everything jn the place is halal. The appetizers and sides were just as amazing. And the prices… you’re probably spending half what you would for an equivalent steak place.

I had the sirloin steak and my husband had something with mole sauce . . . Both were amazing! And guacamole was the best I’ve ever had!

My new favorite restaurant! Love the BYOB. I made margaritas. The 8 oz. filet was cooked perfectly. My fajitas were very good although could’ve used more shrimp. But the tres leches cake was the best I’ve ever had, far and above. And our server Doris was the best.

f you want a Mexican fusion halal spot that actually tastes legit, this is it. The second the food comes out, you smell the spices and slow-cooked meat. It’s not just “halal Mexican” — it’s real, bold flavor done right.

I had a wonderful experience at El Asador. Don’t like the exterior fool you. Driving up, the building is very unassuming and you might wonder whether you want to go in. Rest assured, you will be rewarded well! Atmosphere is almost as important as the food quality and service and once you’re inside, the atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. The server, who might have been one of the owners or a manager, was very friendly and patient and helpful in choosing what to eat. You must start with the fresh guacamole which they serve mild, medium, or spicy. I had spicy and it was indeed as spicy as I wanted it. I might try medium next time to see the difference. For my meal, I ordered the grilled chicken and it came with a delicious poblano and cream soup with some melted cotilla cheese in it. Very mild and exceptionally tasty without being overdone. The chicken was tender, flavorful and juicy. The roasted potatoes had garlic and pan drippings which gave them a natural flavor, and the green beans had been sauteed with onions and tomatoes, very similar to Greek green beans. Nothing could have been any better from the food to the service to the atmosphere. It’s definitely worth your time and I will be returning on a future visit to Detroit! FYI – they don’t serve alcohol, so be aware of this. Not sure if you can bring your own, but honestly I didn’t even miss it because of how good the food was.

If you’re looking for a fantastic Mexican restaurant off the beaten path of Mexican town, then this is your place. In fact, they are considered a steakhouse, which is what I decided to order. We started with guacamole to begin with which was made upon ordering, as we watched our server open the avocados and prepare it. The four of us felt it might’ve been the best we have ever eaten. Next, we had the Queso Fundido appetizer, which was fantastic as well. Instead of a traditional salad, I had the poblano pepper soup. Wow! My meal was the sirloin steak with the poblano sauce and it was amazing! Our server was very friendly and always at our table side to check on things. They have a secure and guarded parking lot.

The experience was below average overall. Although they present themselves as a steakhouse, the Mexican food options were quite limited, and the portion sizes were smaller than expected. It seems that one of the main reasons people choose this place is that it allows guests to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
