In 2005, Egan & Sons was born by the coming together of a seasoned publican from Dublin, Ireland and a lifelong Montclair resident. The result is a marriage of true pub culture that also meets the needs of the community with all ages in mind. With 28 draught beers, hand selected wines and crafted cocktails, it is no wonder we’ve been voted best bar scene for years on end, as well as best Irish cuisine. Our time-honored Irish dishes with American staples sprinkled into the offerings results in satisfying comfort foods, created with the ingenuity and passion by Chef Tess Tripodi. In addition we are known as the place to enjoy European football matches!

It’s been a while since I found a spot with good vibes, great food, and the perfect setting to unwind after a long day. I came here with my coworkers after work, and the energy was just right. The maple buffalo wings were a standout, and the truffle mac and cheese with fried chicken was so good (I only wish it had been baked a little more and a bit less cheesy). The prosecco was exactly what I needed, and the staff was warm and welcoming. The space felt intimate, almost like hanging out with friends in my own backyard. We were lucky enough to snag an outdoor table, and it made the night even better!

Very busy place. Arrived at 6pm on a Friday and it was packed. Would recommend making reservations. We sat at the bar and had dinner and cocktails. The bartender (Tristan) did a fabulous job making my chocolate martini. She’s a true mixologist and she was very attentive. I had the grilled chicken salad which was pretty good. My girl friend got the grouper tacos and she loved them. I would recommend the restaurant. Note the parking is tough so build in time for parking.

Food was ok, great wings, fish tacos were just ok. Very busy on a Sunday evening, place was jumping in a good way. Pizza looked tasty. Others had fish and chips & chicken pot pie and thought it was just so so. I still like the place.

Great experience at Eggs & Sons! The customer service really stood out. Kim, our server, was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Logan, the runner, was quick, polite, and kept everything moving smoothly.
The team worked well together and made us feel welcomed and taken care of. It’s always refreshing to get service like this. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

We’ve been coming here for several years since moving to Montclair from the city and let me tell you, every single thing I’ve eaten here has been exceptional. No matter what you get, it’s bang on delicious. Like an elevated home cooked meal from your mom that hits perfectly. On top of that, the bar is clean and cozy, the staff are always so warm and attentive and the ambience is spot on. Think of going home for the holidays where the food is everything you want it to be, everyone is nice, there’s a buzzy feeling in the air, but make it a dependable restaurant environment. That’s Egans. Well done, guys!

Great service and atmosphere for trivia night. The cocktail we got were delicious. The vegan options leave something to be desired. I got the vEgan tacos and I personally don’t think mushrooms belong in tacos and the sauce was quite oily. My date got Shepards pie which is quite large but was otherwise bland.
I’ll still go back to try their pizzas as it was a fun neighborhood bar vibe but skeptical on anything that is not standard bar fare.

We came on a Tuesday evening without a reservation (group of 7) – the restaurant was very busy but luckily they had a table for us, so be sure to make a reservation, especially on the weekends. The food was very good and I recommend the oysters and mussels for the appetisers. Excellent service too.
