I got a California burrito with chorizo and my wife got their tacos pastor.
They do have some serious heat. I usually expect places to skimp on the heat, so it took me by surprise. However, it was nice to actually get some heat from both the burrito and taco meat. I’m not from around here so I don’t know if the heat is more common around here or not, but it’s definitely hotter than what we get in the Midwest.
Flavors were very full though and the portions were good for the price, I think (again I’m from the Midwest where stuff is generally cheaper) but the prices were in line with about what I would pay there. Maybe the chorizo was a little salty for my taste but that’s my only real complaint.
They did have a good selection of meats too, so if your looking to try some different meats like tongue or tripe you can.
Also their salsa was really good. They brought out some chips with salsa Verde which was really delicious, although if you’re not a fan of cilantro you may not enjoy it.
Overall I’d go back here, especially to try some other options.
And i’ve been to many places, specifically mexican restaurants, in the North and South parts of slo county one thing I can say for a fact is that if there’s mexicans eating at a mexican restaurant that food is authentic! which is the case here at ephrins, every efrins, i’ve been to has never fell short of great. Food is always hot delicious.

Efren’s however, has really blown me away. I went in for a michelada after hearing we finally have a place to get some here in downtown SLO and was blown away how much it’s like the real thing you’d get in Mexico. Their agua de horchata was JUST like my mom’s they’ve really earned this review
