Restaurant is located 1st floor inside the hotel!

Pro:
– mood and atmosphere is upscale
– good menu
– good drink and food selection
– good wine selection

Con:
– Price
– pizza was very greasy
– service was ok

While I appreciate the appearance and attempt at making it classy the service and skill did not match! It is not bad food, but definitely not for the price!

This afternoon at lunchtime I was given a friendly greeting by Liz at the Hotel Weyanoke front desk who directed me to the entrance into Effingham’s to the right. From there LaShanna immediately offered a friendly greeting. I asked to sit at the bar and ordered a Classic Chicken Caesar salad with no croutons and iced tea with lemon. The vibrant salad greens came out beautifully, and the grilled chicken on top was so fresh it still had steam coming off of it! The Dijon Vinaigrette dressing option sounded delicious, so I requested it. It definitely tasted fresh and had just the right tang! Do you enjoy eating high quality fresh food cooked to order? I would definitely recommend trying Effingham’s!

What a lovely new restaurant in Farmville! The renovations to this restaurant area and the rest of the Hotel Weyanoke are very nice. The food here is great, and it’s always nice to have more non-chain restaurants to choose from. I tried three of the pizzas, and look forward to coming back and trying more. I also had the dessert calzone, which I would highly recommend!

Visited for an early dinner after the Farmville wine festival. Upscale feel. Clean and welcoming. Service was quick and efficient, but we were the only patrons there. Pizza took a while, but maybe needed to fire up the oven. Pig and fig was delicious. Reasonable prices. Nice dining option in downtown area.

We came for breakfast and had the eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwich, and omelette. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and everything came out nice and warm

The pizzas are great. We had a large group 11 ladies and the staff were not welcoming. They acted very annoyed that they had to accommodate us. I thought they were going to turn us away. The waitress was inexperienced and inattentive. The food took at least 45 mins. After dinner she never brought the checks we had to seek her out to pay our bills.

Effingham used to be one if my favorite restaurants in town. The chicken and waffles were the stuff of legend. But it’s changed and not a good way. They charge top tier prices for mid food at best. Exs: their salmon and grits taste like came from an instant packet, just add hot water ($26). Their chicken and waffles are served with packets of Smuckers Breakfast Syrup, made with high fructose corn syrup and no actual maple ($28). Either lower your prices or improve the food quality guys. It’s embarrassing.

They also regularly have things listed as gluten-free that aren’t actually available gluten-free when you try to order.

We came into town to visit family. Traveling through Virginia with a dairy allergy is not easy, but finding this place certainly helped! They have vegan options on the menu, and they were very accommodating. The food was great, and even my kids managed to find something they enjoyed. The staff was very welcoming, too. It made a tough trip a little bit easier, and I really appreciate that.

Always enjoy eating here. Nice wine and cocktail list. Food is elevated classics, nice but not fancy. Easy to get a few dishes to split. The pizza has a wonderful crispy crust.

Across the street from a college, a young staff is expected. Service was friendly, but not well versed in the menu details. The black olives are kalamata, which was a nice surprise. The nduja is nothing at all like sausage or pepperoni. Well, it is a bit spicy and pork based and greasy – so maybe something like pepperoni, but nah. The pizza itself is hearty and well topped, but expect a bit of a wait if other guests have not been served. Pizza was delicious cold the next morning!
