We stayed at Belhurst Castle on a Wednesday night. I really wanted to eat at Edgar’s. I called earlier in the week, but reservations were booked. When we arrived we checked at the restaurant and they were still full. We stopped by a little later and they seated us in the bar area at a table (as they were still full). Service was great! The bartender/waiter was very attentive. The food was good, but the atmosphere was great. I thought my dinner was a little pricey – $50 for 6 jumbo scallops over white rice and a few peas on top. Wine was expensive too. $34 for the same bottle we had just purchased in their wine shop for $19. If we brought our own bottle, there was a $15 fee. Dessert was excellent. It was a nice quiet dinner.

Warm, rich wood tones all around. Stunning wood mouldings make for woodworkers eye candy. The food selection is varied and the ones my party consumed are delicious!

The castle is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous, and the food was delicious. They are very short staffed (and would love to have you come in for an interview), but they took good care of us. The steaks were amazing, and gumbo was tasty with a suttle smoky flavor and a light kick. It was even better as left overs! We enjoyed ordering a few desserts and sharing. Peanut butter pie was very rich, Pistachio cheesecake was sweet and a fun and unique dessert (it is quite sweet!). The apple pie and ice cream was everything it should be.

We ordered 4 dishes. 3 of them were awful, the only thing good was the French onion soup. We had risotto in two different dishes that was badly undercooked. Their drinks, bread, and service were great! A table next to us saw that we sent our dish back for undercooked risotto and mentioned that all of their food had come out cold. They only charged us for the food we actually ate and refunded our drinks. The price of the food is far too high for the quality you get. The view and aesthetic is beautiful though.

Beautiful place. Just here for a rehearsal dinner. Alot of people mysteriously sick the next morning… all of which had the prime rib. Food was not very impressive, even those who didn’t have the prime rib. Drinks were very tasty. I don’t think they were prepared well enough for pir large group (they had months of notice). We were shoved in a room that was too small, waitresses could barely make it between tables.

So we went here for dinner while on vacation to check out the finger lakes wineries. We got 4 cocktails which were delicious, we got the soup of the day and the french onion soup which were also great! The bread they served was so delicious that I got a second order. But 3 out of the 4 main entrées were sub-par at best and highly overpriced. I got the fish of the day which was delicious so I didn’t know anything was wrong until the end of the meal. My fiancee got the scallops with a vodka butter sauce- the scallops were delicious but the vodka sauce was not reduced at all. You could smell the vodka when you put your nose to it, and had basically no garlic or capers. Our aunt got the same dish, and her sauce was reduced but had no flavor and had a pile of garlic and capers. My fiancee’s mother had the filet mignon which was not cooked to order (medium) and was very dry- almost well done. Her mashed potatoes were dry as well. The vegetables however were delicious. Based on some other reviews it seems this place might be under new management and the food does not have consistency. To put the nail in the coffin the server did not ask anything about our meal which is probably why nobody said anything about their meal until the bill came, which again was quite expensive. Probably won’t be coming again which I am a little upset about because it is a very beautiful venue right on the lake. Our aunt had been here many times before and had wonderful experiences so this was disappointing and unexpected.

I am being generous by giving them one star. By far the worst meal we’ve had in years. I most say the bread was good and the crab cakes were ok. The prime rib and the ribeye were both awful, no taste, tough and overcooked . It is a shame because the place is magnificent, beautiful views of the lake and gorgeous grounds

Magnificent evening on the beautiful grounds with views of the lake. The food was absolutely delicious. You need to plan an evening here by reservation but it is worth it. The decor of the restaurant is filled with antiques reminiscent of another era. The service was excellent and we enjoyed relaxing on the lawn after to enjoy the view.

Food was horrible, cold, not cooked well and even found a hair in a plate. Seems like its a upscale restaurant by the pictures and reviews but you can get way better food and drinks at a local bar. The location is beautiful but does not make up for the food and prices. You will be spending over $300 for 4 and not eat anything. The table next to us sent all their food back too. Not pleasant experience at ALL!

Perhaps you’ve had this experience: you find yourself in an idyllic setting when suddenly you find a small stone, a scruple, in your shoe. Although your surroundings are still beautiful, it is that nagging annoyance that commands your attention. Such was our dinner at Edgar’s at Belhurst Castle.
