Cool place. As a trained protein chef and butcher in NYC & Boston. I can honestly say the steaks were very, very disappointing. We had read about this location and came a long way to eat here. All of the steaks ordered that evening for our table were several temps over what was ordered. Very salty, too, charred super heavy. The portion sizes were generous for the price, so it is definitely worth it. Critiquing simply the cook temps. It’s unfortunate. Service was nice, and they were incredibly friendly. I’d come back in the future just based on friendly conversation. Hoping the best for the future kitchen crew.

Honestly wasn’t very impressed here. Heard it was one of the best steakhouses around MT. I had the NY strip, and my wife had the ribeye. At $106 (including tip) we got:
2 burnt steaks .
A salad with 2 rotten tomatoes
an unusually large (x1) cucumber picture 6 half dollars stacked together. Bout what it looked like.
And the most horrifying rendition of cole slaw I’ve ever tasted.
About a mouthful of baked beans maybe 2.
Truth be told I don’t see myself going back. The steak was a tasty cut. And tender, but when you ask for medium rare and get burnt ? And that Cole slaw my lord, the most disgusting version possible. But we traveled far and were starved so we cleared it. Cool place, nice waitress but absolutely sorry meal.

It was a nice enough place. The service was fantastic but the food was neh. I ordered a steak med rare, and it came med, almost med well. The baked potato was delightful, though. And the appetizers were good. The atmosphere was ok, but it is listed as a bar and grill and is fairly rural, so i should have expected that.

The food was decent, steak was cooked to a fine mod-rare. The waitstaff was attentive and checked on our table regularly. The only issue i really had was the pricing of the menu. Now, I get it is a rural bar/restaurant but their prices were a bit out of hand for what you get. Also, be warned if you go with a group they don’t like to split checks and if you have 10 or more it is an automatic 20% gratuity required on the bill even if split. While the quality of the steak was good the flavor was lacking as it had very little seasoning. Their dinner salad was nothing more than some iceberg lettuce with a few cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and a few croutons. Their corn was nothing more than canned corn with again no seasoning and was rather soggy. While it was a decent meal it was very expensive vs. the hype surrounding the restaurant. Not much available on the menu under about $20.

Don’t let the outside fool you! Awesome good, big servings, come hungry! Excellent service, highly recommend the trip. Had the firecracker shrimp it was excellent, along with prime rib, and some giant prawns! Overall just an awesome small town place that once you go, you will keep going back.

I would have never stopped here on my own because it looks like a simple drive bar, but local friends brought us for dinner. Dinner was simply outstanding! We had Shelby and her infectious smile taking care of a table of almost 20 and she managed everything without a hitch while still taking care of other tables. The steaks were phenomenal and despite thinking I would take home leftovers I ate the entire 30 oz porterhouse while my wife did serious damage to the baseball cut sirloin with crab. She did say she liked mine better though.
You can’t go wrong even with a 30 minutes drive to the bar like we had.

Great find in Edgar MT! Appetizers of crispy green beans and fried mushrooms are excellent. Bone in ribeye and a black and blue burger for our entrée. Outstanding taste and temperature. Server went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend Edgar Bar!

We were visiting friends in Red lodge from Colorado for the 4th of July. They told us how good your food and hospitality is so we all went together Thursday night. We were soooo glad we did! The prime rib and jumbo prawns were to die for and the bull fries were the BEST I’ve ever had! It was so good we made the trek back 3 days later before our travels back home. The burger was delicious and of course I had to get the bull fries again! We’re still talking about the experience we had and how amazing the food was. I sure wish we had a comparable restaurant/bar like the Edgar bar near us! Thank you for doing such a great job at what you all do!! We’ll definitely be stopping back on our next trip to Red lodge!

Great little bar/restaurant. Food is fabulous, service staff is super friendly, attentive and prompt with any requests. Reservations are needed. They are expensive but worth the drive and the cash. ❤️
