I recently had a disappointing experience at Edamame Steakhouse, a restaurant where my husband and I have been loyal patrons for many years. On Wednesday afternoon, April 16, the service was subpar with our server displaying a noticeable lack of attentiveness and courtesy. Despite my clear order she incorrectly recorded it and disputed the mistake when I brought it to her attention. When I requested a refund for the wrong item she responded by mentioning the high cost of eggs. This comment not only felt dismissive but also induced a sense of second-hand embarrassment, as if she was uncomfortable acknowledging her own mistake. This struck me as not only unhelpful but also condescending, given that I was already bearing the brunt of their inflated costs.
Unfortunately this experience was not an isolated incident. I’ve noticed a decline in the quality and taste of the food over time (with the exception of the crab rangoon which remains their best option) – I’ve also observed other patrons sharing similar sentiments in their reviews.
During a separate previous visit in January 2025 I witnessed a staff member Kim, who I was fond of, chasing after two teenagers into the parking lot who had left a minimal tip. While I understand that tipping is customary I believe it’s essential for businesses to recognize that gratuities are not obligatory. A more gracious approach would be to focus on providing exceptional service rather than expecting a certain level of compensation.
Given these experiences my husband and I have decided not to return to Edamame. We will be taking our business to establishments that prioritize customer satisfaction and appreciate our patronage. There are many excellent alternatives in the area (such as New Ginza of Watertown and Fusion Taste of Arlington) that have earned our loyalty.

The food came quick and was good at 4pmon a sunday.
The lunch menu ends at 3pm and seems like a decent deal.
The tables were sticky and ac wasn’t working though they did install a fan.
There are two sides to the restaurant: hibachi grill and regular.
Decoration is decent and music was ok.
It’s next to a nail salon, planet fitness gym, cvs pharmacy and stop and shop grocery store so there’s ample free parking.

We had a very nice dinner there. We did the Hibachi. We were early for dinner just after 5pm on a Tuesday. We had the hibachi table to ourselves. The hibachi chef was very funny and the food delicious. The servers were very polite.

Came here for the first time on a Tuesday night, was nearly empty and we were seated right away. The staff was friendly and really great. The Spicy Tuna Sandwich sushi was some of my favorite sushi i’ve ever had.

I order a Fried Lobster Roll that cost 17.95 and only got 5 pieces. I could have sworn last time it was 6. This is insane

Going downhill. We’ve been going there for the hibachi for a few years, and in the past everything was great. But our last meal was so bad a few of us couldn’t finish. The fish, especially the scallops were old and they tried to hide it by using more seasoning, it didn’t help. The chef also didn’t pay attention and overcooked the beef even though we were very clear and told him again while he cooked it in front of us. Even the sushi rolls were less than fresh.
Also, what up with them using part of the dinning are as storage for all to see? I mean they have a stand up screen to block it but its folded and up against the wall. It’s like they don’t see it or don’t care.
I like this place and hope they read this review so they can take steps to make it better but as it stands now I’d just assume to find another place until I see reviews that counter mine. Sorry but we were disappointed

I am super open minded to hibachi! Every restaurant has its tricks/secrets for cooking but legit everything i got tasted off. Salmon Sami- plain white rice with raw salmon on top. Damon was warm and tasted funky. Then my hibachi filet minon tasted chemical-like. Would never and will never recommend this place to anyone.

We went second time as first had a great experience there with hibachi food but this time I can say I felt like server were mad because we went inside there restaurant. Lady was really rude they make a share the table with other peoples and our food was not at the standard from beginning and they cooked beef and chicken on the same table and inside same sauce when we offend that the server was really made I felt like they were threatening. Also they charge us 18% tips on the invoices I understand some people don’t leave the tip but assuming 18% tip is not fair felt like stealing money forcefully. I was going to leave 20% tip anyway but not there luck.
DONT GO TO ThIs place they are not nice.

The food was good but as others have stated the waitress was a bit rude. I asked for a side of fried rice as was on the menu and she didn’t get it. She said “I don’t want to argue” with you and walked away. What I got was a small (icecream scoop) side of plain white rice and was charged 3.50 extra for fried rice. The table chef was an elderly man and he did a good job at entertaining and cooking the food. But due to the service I will go elsewhere next time for hibachi.

Came here for a birthday party for my husband (10 people for Hibachi) and we had a GREAT time! The staff was attentive, warm, and welcoming. The Hibachi chef was hilarious and fun without interrupting the natural flow of conversation. Everything was affordable and delicious, perfectly cooked to order. The drinks were great (and strong!). Plenty of parking. Lovely ambiance. Absolutely would recommend, we will be going back again soon!
