Ed Debevic’s

Social Profile:

Ed Debevic’s, since 1984, has been one of Chicago’s most famous sassy retro themed diners. Quirky servers in flashy costumes serve up great breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, cheese fries, huge salads, milkshakes, and ice cream sundaes with a side order of sass! Don’t expect this diner to be a “Please” and “Thank You” kind of place. The servers pride themselves on snarky remarks and even drop their trays to do choreographed dance numbers on the soda counters!

Funky classic diner with 1950s decor serving American comfort food such as burgers & shakes.

I don’t think you come here for the food. Although I ate here with my nephews and one gave his spicy buffalo chicken a 9/10 and the other rated his chicken tenders a 6.5.

It was fun for most of us. We were happy we made reservations for 6people. My grandson was not happy about it for his birthday! Service was RUDE as advertised Great new lively location downtown. NO parking we had to pay fifty bucks in the garage for lunch 150 for meal tip included. Good time overall!

The food was good here. The entertainment really brought the flavor of the food up. I got the one and only dog. Full size. It was a large weiner, and it was difficult to get it all in your mouth. It was tasty. The strawberry malt was really good. I highly recommend the malts. The service was great. I would it say sarcasm with positivity. It’s not really rude or obnoxious, more playful. The DJ was very entertaining, and the live waiters singing and dancing was awesome.

Ed’s had made a triumphant return. The crew is top notch staying in character and making it a fun environment for everyone. The menu is expansive and the food is well above average. Go and have some fun and get insulted while you’re at it.

If I were to get into the food service industry my dream job would be a Ed Debevic’s! One of the things I love most about Ed Debevic’s is the fun and entertaining atmosphere. If you’re looking for nice and friendly service definitely look else where but if you can stand you own and love a good laugh check them out.

This place was great! I visited with my 7th grade class in 2000. It was so nice to bring my girls so they could experience the sassy comments and costumes of the waiting staff. The world’s smallest sundae is still delicious! We ate breakfast and it did not disappoint.

What a fun experience! Ed’s is rude in the best way. Service with a side of sarcasm! Our family had a great time here. Thank you to Marge Urin L for great service. Food was good, but nothing you can’t find at any diner. Only complaint is it was $80 for two people and a toddler. 🙁

Went for lunch while visiting Chicago with my family. I love restaurants that the waiters insult you and like Dick’s Last Resort. This was kinda like it but the service was horrible. We were a party of 6, we were sat immediately. I understand they are supposed to be rude and throw the napkins and hats on the table but we waited for 20 mins to just get the drink order in. We watched as other people came in and got their drink order in immediately. Our server walked past us several times and never talked to us or gave us an indication she was serving us. The diner was not busy at all. I don’t remember her name but she was wearing a pink shirt and pigtails. My mother had to ask a someone else to get our server because nobody has talked to us yet. After we got that sorted out our server didn’t talk to us much and only interacted with us when she had to. I didn’t know if that was in character or not and her jokes were calling us freaks and just throwing hats and napkins on the table was the bare minimum and my family and I were laughing at another guy with a raccoon hat. (Sorry I don’t know their names I just remember what they looked like). Besides that the food was good and I didn’t have a problem with that. I feel like I was let down a little and our server could have done better. The prices though were outrageous 16 dollars for a basket of cheese curds.
