This is certainly your authentic Sichuan restaurant that you can take your partner on a date with. The Eastern Pavilion surpasses TAO’s Fusion and Spice Workshop as the best place to have Sichuan signatures around Stony Brook and essentially the whole of Suffolk county East of Nicolls Road. My wife and I tried their wontons in hot chili oil, Dan Dan noodle as appetizers and they were great! Mala Xiang Guo was on point. We like our Hao Jiao (tongue numbing peppercorn) and as requested made it to our preferred spice level. They have American Chinese on the menu too, we will never try it but I’m pretty sure it must be good here judging by how good the authentic stuff is. They also have a nice sushi bar with a really nice Asian alcohol menu. It’s way easier to communicate with the servers here because they are quite fluent in English and they are always very friendly with us. Stony Brook is truly blessed to host the most authentic Indian(Taj) and Chinese restaurants either side of a fence.

Was here the first time for my birthday dinner—WOW, what an unexpected wonderful experience. The inside has been fully renovated and looks beautiful. Clean and modern decor that you can tell the owners truly take pride in. The food was equally delicious—our table had a variety of appetizers and main courses, everything was cooked perfectly and flavorful. Beef with broccoli was excellent. Service was also excellent. Such a treat to have this fabulous restaurant in the neighborhood—-we will most certainly be back! Highly recommended.

This place is just as good as I remember it was over 20 years ago when I worked at Stony Brook U. The place has had a face lift and looks nicer bur the food is still the same! Thank god! Amazing It is a staple in the stony brook community and college. Hope this place lives on forever and continues to have amazing chefs come through and pass on their knowledge so that it may prosper forever! Hands down one of the best places out of all the North shore of Long Island.

Eastern Pavilion is a hidden gem in Long Island. The variety of Asian cuisine they offer is impressive and at such affordable prices! For appetizers, my family and I got the steamed pork dumpling, which was good. Could have been a little juicier. For main, we got their signature Hawaiian roll and Pad Thai noodle. Their Pad Thai noodle was hands down one of the best ones we have tried so far. It was spicy enough to eat and was just so delicious, out of this world! Next time, we definitely want to try their James signature roll and other signature dishes! For drinks we got their beautiful amethyst colored sake drink…can’t remember the exact name, but it was pretty good. Make sure to stir it well before drinking it! The food arrived on time and the staff were all friendly and attentive. I highly recommend people to check this place out! It’s a chic and modern restaurant for couples, friends, and family alike!

Eastern Pavilion went through an extensive renovation and it now has a very modern upscale feel. The food was excellent and the entree portions were huge. My favorite dish tonight was Prawns Szechwan style. Big tender shrimps with fried garlic and spicy peppers. So delicious. The General Tso’s Chicken was recommended to me and it was very good. Huge pieces of chicken breast meat, lightly battered and fried, and just the right amount of sauce. Very different than what I’ve had in the past. Good job guys!

We used to dine here very frequently up to about 8 years ago.The quality of the food and the size of the ordered food had diminished. None of our friends wanted to return. We decided to give the restaurant another try last night (Tuesday, only two other diners were eating). We were very hesitant, but the maitre d’ was pleasant in greeting us, and we were delighted with the upscale look of the place. Our waiter, on the other hand, kept dashing away before we could complete our orders. We needed to request items three separate times. He was not rude; just uncaring and unfriendly. Now to the food. Excellent all around. We have had Asian food for more than 50 years, including in Hong Kong and large cities, and our expectations are high. Everything was superb–scallion pancakes, pad thai, shrimp in garlic sauce. All the sauces were fresh and delicious; and the wide fried wonton noodles at the start of the meal were great and not greasy. The portion sizes were large enough for a small doggy bag; the prices are about the same as Ancient Ginger, but with more creativity. We are dying to return soon and try other dishes. One other annoying issue was at the end of the meal. I was still eating, and the clean up staff presented us with the bill–a little training would resolve this problem as well as our experience with the waiter. If you have been putting off trying Eastern Pavilion for years, this is a good time to give them a chance once again.

Decor was very nice. Food was very good, portions were good, BUT.. service was rushed, tea was not offered – had to ask, had to ask for knives, sugar, dessert was never offered, and we did not get any fortune cookies! Our bill was put on the table before we finished eating. It was not crowded at all. Next time we’ll do take out.

Amazing experience. They’ve revamped both the interior and menu and it is vastly improved. Best Chinese restaurant around. Try the dry pot!

Amazing food – the general tso chicken is absolutely killer! The sauce is well balanced, and huge chunks of white meat chicken. This will be my go to, no doubt about that.
