Some of the food is very old and poor quality, despite their high price, one would expect better than other places. For example, I have experienced rotten dates many times. Or leftover meat. It seems that the meat is not halal at all because the blood clots in the muscles are visible even after thorough washing and cooking in a pot. Halal meat is completely recognizable. If this continues, this place should be closed before someone gets seriously sick!!

Serious Concern About Meat Quality — Needs Immediate Attention
I have been purchasing meat from East Market for a long time and was always satisfied with the quality. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing. During this visit, a middle-aged man, approximately 40–50 years old, was handling the meat section and sold me meat that he claimed was “fresh and received from the slaughterhouse the day before.”
However, when I brought the meat home, it had a very strong and unpleasant odor and appeared to be several weeks old and unsafe for consumption. This raises serious concerns about the lack of proper oversight on freshness, expiration dates, and product quality in this store.
I truly hope that the management addresses this issue immediately to prevent the sale of spoiled or questionable products.
If this issue happens again, I will have to report it to the appropriate authorities, including:
• Sacramento County Environmental Management Department (EMD)
• California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA)
• USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)
This is necessary to ensure customer safety and proper food-handling practices.
I also encourage other customers to carefully check expiration dates, smell, and appearance of products before purchasing.

Pleasantly surprised… Dare I even say life-changing..Our friend brought us here and wow how wonderful. We’re vegetarian and they have several options.. Recommend everything.
Our friend had a lamb dish.. Everything comes with rice and has more than ample portions..
This is definitely a casual dining experience; don’t expect being waited on.. You order, they bring your food, you have to ask for your bill and you go up front to pay..
We will definitely be back.

I recently visited this restaurant with high hopes, especially looking forward to trying their qabili. Unfortunately, I was left quite disappointed. When I ordered, I expected the authentic dish—fragrant, spiced rice with tender meat, carrots, and raisins. Instead, what I received was plain rice with meat, missing the hallmark ingredients that make qabili so special. It almost seemed like the kitchen wasn’t familiar with what goes into a true qabili recipe.
I’m giving them two stars solely because their service was friendly and attentive, but the quality of the food didn’t match up. If you’re hoping for an authentic Afghan dining experience, this might not be the place.

Sharq Market has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Every time I ask the cashier to bag my groceries, they just throw a bag at me and say to do it myself. This isn’t just once — it happens all the time. The little lady cashier and the guy both look angry at customers for no reason, like they don’t even want people shopping there. A grocery store should welcome customers with respect, a smile, and at least basic service, not treat them like an inconvenience. Shopping here makes you feel unwelcome and disrespected. Don’t waste your money or time at Sharq Market. There are plenty of better stores where they actually value their customers.

I bought salty cookies and brought them home. I was so excited to eat them with my milk tea, but when I opened the package, I saw that the cookies were moldy and had gone bad!! They don’t even check their food. This store has terrible customer service! That girl sitting in front of me was supposed to call, but she didn’t. Instead, she took another customer who wasn’t Afghan! Afghan people are looked down upon because they are new and don’t know anything. That is truly dishonest! I feel sorry for those new afghan people. The people who work at this store should learn how to behave and check the food every day!

I always eat out, after I found their food delicious I had been coming here for three consecutive days and wanted to come every day but when I found out that they add tip to my receipt sneakily and stealthy I asked the restaurant manager that the tip is optional he replied no it mandatory here so I stopped coming here anymore. They might have thought that stealing $1 or $2 will benefit them but they lose customers instead.
