Great food.

The presentation and taste of my meal was 9/9.

The atmosphere is nice, a bit outdated but much better than the 1900’s cafeteria style seating a lot of restaurants have in Rutland.

The service was impeccable and I sat at the bar.

Highly recommend.

The Boston hand roll tasted like it was made two days ago and sat out. Dry and tasteless. The garlic shrimp scallops is just drenched in some sort of sauce but its sauce. Like, you’re supposed to dip stuff in it – not drink it. The crab rangoons are underfilled but at least crispy. The bbq boneless ribs are dry and non-flavorful. The only 5* item was the egg rolls.

Sadness.

After a long weekend of basketball, just need some good tasty Chinese food looked around. Lotta places in the area but mostly just takeout. This place had a little sit down action. When you first walk in comfy low-key vibes got seated right away. The hostess lady was very nice. The food prices on the menu were a little bit on the higher side, but the quality of the food was quite good. We got the pork fried rice, chicken lo mein General T chicken And some crab Rangoon‘s all that four sodas still under $90.

They seem like nice folks- and I really am glad they’re in town for as long as they have been. And I mean this in the kindest way- I just am fairly sure the chef could do better and it’s choosing not to ( ) – there isn’t any competition around here. But I’ve gotten takeout from them about six times now and every time I’m like “this could be better”. I hope this doesn’t offend them. I just wanted to say so because I do think they could make great food but right now it’s completely average honestly, some items below. Best wishes to yall, seriously. Cheers

East Asian Cuisine is my preferred Asian restaurant in Rutland. The food is reliably good, the menu is diverse enough to keep it interesting, and in general I’ve had good service! I recently did a takeout order and I think my only complaint was that the online order form took some interpretation (it’s all shorthand) and the real menu wasn’t posted anywhere (hence my pic today).

One thing I really appreciate is the large amount of vegetables they include in their entrees. The chicken dishes come with a healthy portion of nicely-cooked beans, etc, which make this one of the healthier take-out options in the area.

The restaurant itself is a nice place to have a quiet dinner where you can hear each other talk; a nice thought for folks who are hard of hearing.

Food was unexpectedly good and service was as well. Interior could easily seat greater than 50, but there were only 6 people there. I would do it again

As I have mentioned in the past (harp on even), dining out is about food AND vibes. The best thing I can say regarding the vibe at East Asian Cuisine is: bring your own. Because, WOW. Situation here is dire my friends. The woman at the host stand probably should consider a line of work other than one where you deal with the public. YIKES.

I arrived at about 1:30pm on a Wednesday, which is an “odd,” in between time. All I’m going to say is that East Asian Cuisine might want to consider taking a little time out between lunch and dinner service. Might potentially boost morale…

Anyhoo, there was a deserted, empty bar beside a dark and closed up sushi bar on the wall beyond the unwelcoming host stand. The TV was on at the bar, so I asked if I could sit there. No. Epically unhappy host began leading me across the large, center dining room, which had ALL THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF, to a row of booths along the opposite wall, where the lights were on, but not all the way up. Very dark. But! The front wall is all windows. Host began leading back into the darkest bowels, away from the windows and the light. I asked to sit near the windows where there was some light.

Oh. Wait. I forgot to mention that there were 2 other diners in the entire place. Multiple empty booths at the window…

She begrudgingly sat me at a booth with actual, natural light.

The menu is huge and has sushi and Japanese kitchen items, plus all the American Chinese food. Which is what I was there for! There are also lunch specials.

I decided to order two full sized items: Shrimp Pan Fried Noodles (mostly there are not really any descriptions on the menu, so I asked if it had veggies in it, my waiter assured me it did) and Eggplant with Garlic Sauce. Because I couldn’t resist. I. Love Eggplant.

Okay, legit? Portions are enormous. And I know from huge portions. LOL Snaps to my waiter for not trying to dissuade me from ordering way too much food. It is 100% my god given right as an American to over order when I dine out. Also definitely a personal goal of mine. Every time.

Food is GOOD here. Veggies are all fresh and perfectly cooked. Shrimp were HUGE and also perfectly cooked. The Eggplant was DELICIOUS.

Once you’ve got high quality ingredients (which they DO here with what I had!) the thing about Chinese American food is the sauces. Your sauces need to be delicious. I only had two, the Garlic Sauce (definitely delicious) and the sauce on the pan fried noodles (I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s more on the sweet side). My only criticism is the sheer volume of sauce on those noodles. It was BONKERS. LOL The noodles were excellent, but they’re fried crispy and then someone poured like half a gallon of sauce on them, so they were swimming and losing the crispy. Which forced me to eat them as fast as I possibly could. Honestly not the best approach. Still fun tho.

Obviously, maybe, I could not finish the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce at lunch. But I did about 6 hours later at my kitchen island…

From the atmosphere to the service and the music all to the food, everything is so amazing, I m traveling to try different places for food on different locations, state wide and this far as Asian goes especially for Rutland Vt this is the best I had! My duck was to die for, full of flavor and just what I’ve been wanting to eat and so was my husband general tso,a very clean restaurant and clean bathrooms! Will definitely be back as we just moved to the area! So if you’re visiting Rutland I’d suggest to stop here because this is the best!

The food was ok. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. Our server was friendly and the food came out pretty fast. This was my first time eating here so of course I will go back and try something different from their incredibly large menu. I do love all of the choices, separated between Chinese and Japanese lists.

Been going here for years. Since the name changed and I imagine the ownership, I feel like it has gone down in quality just a little. My most recent visit I ordered the wonton soup and the sesame beef.

I think that the wonton soup was better before, now they add chopped iceberg and spring onion, which while it is good, I miss when it would be a simple clear broth with dumplings.

The sesame beef was good, but I wish the pieces were more bite sized. It was a little difficult to eat with chopsticks, I even had to cut a piece apart into 4 to be manageable.

Sapporo was delicious. I ate alone and was left alone for the most part, which is how I wanted it. Refill on my water was unobtrusive. Good visit overall!
