Great food, coffee, and energy drink.
Good service.

Even though it wasn’t very deep, given the number of employees behind the counter, somebody should have shoveled the snow before noon when it started melting.

Support our local coffee shop! I look forward to going back and trying something else.

1/22/2026 Update
My first time here was a disappointment (see below), and the owner was interested in better understanding my experience, so we ended up having a great conversation on the phone. So glad that I returned a week later.

I get the idea that everybody has different expectations for what makes for a great coffee shop experience. Coffee shops have a tough time meeting everyone’s needs. And while not every coffee shop has the ability to meet these needs, the best places are the ones that are good at listening to customers and doing their best to accommodate them. I would say that DW Coffee is doing just that, being very receptive to feedback and trying to make things better.

I brought a different friend along for this visit. We ordered a couple of lattes. Mine was a London Fog Tea Latte. Instead of my usual scone, I went with the Morning Bun.

The owner happened to be there and took my drink order. She was able to make it exactly as I like it: fully steep the tea, add a couple pumps each of lavender and vanilla, then add the creamy frothed milk. It ended up having the right flavors, a nice texture with the milk/foam, and the perfect temperature (140°F-ish). You know you are getting quality frothed milk when the foam lasts to the very bottom of the cup.

The Morning Bun was excellent. They warmed it up and included a little plastic cup of cinnamon/honey butter—just enough to add a bit to every piece that I tore off. So delicious.

There are a lot of really good coffee shops to choose from. People have different reasons for sticking with the ones that meet and/or exceed their expectations. With that in mind, I’ll be sure to return to this one!

Been to DW Coffee in Rochester several times, and I really love that space. So when I learned they were opening one in Wind Lake, which is closer to Muskego, I was very excited. I took the opportunity to bring a friend along and was glad to finally check it out.

Food:
We ordered a couple of lattes and some bakery items. I got my usual London Fog Tea Latte and a scone. When ordering, I made sure to let them know exactly what I wanted: whole milk, a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra frothy. When the London Fog was delivered to the table, it was filled so high that the tea was spilling onto the plate. There was a little foam on top, but not much texture underneath. It was the right temperature and had good flavor.

One small suggestion on the tea latte: most places steep the tea to the right strength, remove the tea bag, and then add the frothed milk. Leaving the tea bag in tends to disrupt the texture and takes away from that smooth, luxurious foam.

They didn’t have any scones in the case at first, but I was in luck because they had just brought some out from the kitchen. I assumed that meant they were freshly baked. Unfortunately, when I received mine, it was actually cold. It almost felt like it had been thawed rather than freshly baked. I took it back and asked if they could warm it up a bit, which definitely helped.

Service:
All of the staff we interacted with were nice and welcoming. We got friendly greetings, and they helped us through the ordering process, asking the right questions about tea and flavorings. One small miss was that they didn’t ask if we wanted the bakery item warmed up.

Atmosphere:
The place is newly opened and has been lovingly remodeled. The interior isn’t very large, but it feels bright and inviting. There are large windows across the front that bring in lots of natural light. Everything inside looks new, from the floors to the walls to the counters, and it’s all very well done.

I’m glad we stopped in. This side of town can really benefit from a solid coffee shop. For me, they still need to work out some of the kinks with the tea lattes and the bakery items. With a little attention to detail and continued feedback, I think they can get there. I definitely plan to give them another try in the not too distant future.

My family absolutely loves DW Coffee! We were so happy when they opened the Wind Lake location and love the drive thru option. We’ve always had great service, food, and excellent customer service at both locations. Sometimes it can take a little longer, but that’s because it’s a small coffee shop. (It’s worth the wait for the quality!) We love supporting a small business and communities near us. I usually get the lattes or seasonal drinks and my husband LOVES their mushroom coffee chagachino (I’m not sure how to spell it, but he said no one else makes it like them). Our pup loves getting a pup cup in the drive thru. If you’re in the area, check them out! It’s adorable inside and a cute little place to go on a date, bring a friend, or just bring a book and have some alone time. We’re grateful to have these two coffee shop gems in our backyard.

It appeared that there was a power issue. The menu board at drive thru was not lit. Understandable. However I pulled up to the window and 4 girls looked my way so I know they saw me. Maybe they should be trained to at least let the customer know there is a problem. Most of us would understand. To just ignore is rude!
I was there at about 8:30 I believe. The board was dark I couldn’t read it so I pulled up to the window to let someone know. All they had to do was let me know. I could have come back.

I’m ashamed to say that I finally just carved out the time to check this little coffee shop out!! It’s absolutely amazing! What a fabulous addition to the Windlake area – Staff was excellent service was excellent food also excellent! I went inside for my first visit, thinking that would be easier to review their menu and I’m so glad I did as I had no idea how charming and adorable the interior Mercantile is. This is by far my new favorite coffeehouse and the best part is that it is only a couple miles from my home.
I had the Cubana Panini, which came with a pickle spear and potato chips, and you will see in my pictures how absolutely charming it was packaged for my to go order, it was amazing and perfectly made. I also had the Java chip Frappuccino, which was the best one I’ve ever had..
I will be Going here often!!

Came in on opening day. Very friendly staff, great panini’s and good coffee. Even though they were busy, it was still quick. Great job! We will be back again. Lots of options and some gluten free sauces/dressings to purchase. My only recommendation is having a gluten free bread option for the sandwiches which I hope they add later on.

I love DW so much. My usual drink is a large cold brew with caramel and espresso. This morning I got the English muffin sandwich and it was the best egg sandwich I have ever had!! So fresh and delicious. I will happily go to DW over Starbucks any day.

We love this place (great deals with the reusable cup) but the Wind Lake location needs some help 🙁
Waited over 20 minutes for a drip coffee and Latte. We were handed 3 incorrect drinks and had to hand them back. Our order was typed incorrectly so there was an issue with payment too.
The drive thru time has been 20+ minutes for me recently.
Overall – great coffee! Cozy atmosphere! Just needs some fine tuning.

A super charming little Cafe that I’d have more expected to find in a trendy little ski village. Delicious food, great coffee, cute gifts, exceptionally friendly staff. What a gem!
