Reviews
If you want the ultimate steakhouse experience with a tropical soul, DUO Steak and Seafood at the Four Seasons Maui is the place to be. We dined here recently and were absolutely blown away—not just by the food, but by the seamless, high-end hospitality that makes you feel like the only person in the room.
Service: The Gold Standard
The service at DUO is impeccable. From the host’s warm welcome to the waitstaff’s expert timing, everything was flawless. Our server was incredibly well-versed in the different cuts of beef and helped us pair our cocktails perfectly with our meal. They have a way of making “fine dining” feel relaxed and comfortable without losing a shred of professionalism.
The Food: From Land to Sea
While DUO is famous for its raw bar and fresh catches, the grill is where the magic really happens:
• The Steak: I ordered the Bone-In Ribeye, and it was easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in years. It arrived with a perfect char on the outside and was cooked to a precise medium-rare. The quality of the meat is undeniable—buttery, rich, and incredibly tender.
• The Huli Huli Chicken: This was the surprise of the night! Sometimes chicken can feel like a “safe” menu choice, but DUO’s elevated take on this Hawaiian classic is a revelation. The glaze was the perfect balance of sweet and savory with a hint of smoke, and the meat was succulent and juicy. It’s a must-order if you want a true taste of the islands.
Highlights You Can’t Miss:
• The Atmosphere: Sitting poolside under the stars with the sound of the ocean in the distance creates an unbeatable ambiance.
• The Sides: Do yourself a favor and order the Truffle Mac & Cheese. It is decadent and pairs beautifully with the steak.
• The Sweet Finish: They often bring out a complimentary cloud of cotton candy at the end of the meal—a whimsical, nostalgic touch that ended our night with a smile.
DUO is a masterclass in how a resort restaurant should be run. Whether it’s a romantic date or a family celebration, they will make it unforgettable.
We had looked at the menu before arriving and had a general idea of what we wanted, but their whisky list was chocked full of unicorns. This gave me a chance to try the Parker series limited release. The bartender and our waitress kindly allowed me to photo the bottle for my tasting list.
The food was seasoned well and exquisitely prepared. Beet Carpaccio was flavorful with burrata cheese and candied walnuts. The King crab legs were huge and we could have them warm or cold (we chose cold, but with warm butter), the ribeye and tuna were well seasoned giving them some amazing depth of flavor worthy of any high end restaurant (our compliments to the chef), and desert was special.
With most restaurants being of equal billing in the resorts of Wailea, Duo stands out for the highest quality, greatest of service, and worth the expense! We will definitely be back on our next visit
I was still quite full from dinner at Ferraro the night before, so I ordered the avocado toast instead. It came with two large slices of bread topped with two eggs—hearty, filling, and plenty of avocado. Coffee ordered separately was about $9.
Since this was our first breakfast at the Four Seasons, I was pleasantly surprised when the DUO assistant manager stopped by our table to wish us a Happy Anniversary and thank us for coming. It was a thoughtful and genuinely welcoming gesture.
To start, I highly recommend the DUO wedge salad great flavor and a perfect appetizer. The crispy Brussels sprouts and roasted mushrooms were also solid sides to share.
On my first visit, I had the dry-aged bone-in ribeye (rare). Personally not my type of cut , it was mostly fat and pretty chewy, so not my favorite cut. The wagyu truffle burger was ok.
But on my second visit… I had the Australian Wagyu and the Snake River Farms American Wagyu Flat Iron, and both were incredible tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend those if you’re going for steak. Also the Roasted Shallot Jus is a must sauce for the steak.
For sides, the garlic truffle fries provably my favorite thing crispy, rich, and great with the steaks.
As for dessert, the soufflé cheesecake was my favorite light, fluffy, and just sweet enough. I also tried the Chocolate Macadamia Torte, which was good too, though a bit too chocolatey (if you’re not into rich chocolate, maybe go for something lighter).
Overall, DUO is a must-visit if you’re staying in Wailea or nearby. Great food and amazing Four Seasons service. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip.
