The owners weren’t welcoming or friendly which immediately took away from my experience. I ordered a Naan pepperoni pizza and diet Pepsi for lunch. Asked for a little extra cheese on the pizza and was met with dirty looks. Paid with cash and they didn’t want to break a $50, so I did a $20 instead. Clearly did not want cash payment, but that’s my preferred method of payment.
Found a table by the window and enjoyed a lovely view while waiting for my pizza. The pizza itself was delicious. No idea whether it had extra cheese, but it was really good. Came out in about 15 minutes.
The total was $12. When I left, walking directly by the front counter and owners, neither said thanks or good day or anything. Hm.
Anyway – good lunch pizza! No reason to try them again. There were a dozen other places surrounding them that I will check out to receive hopefully better service.
As I was about to leave, a gentleman who was also working left and asked for some water on the way out. A different employee told him “I noticed you have been here a while, we have to ask that you purchase something else if you stay here a while”.
I get this is a business but if the owner is asking employees to do this 1) employees should be trained on how to bring this up without being offensive, 2) there should be some signage so they don’t have to have these interactions, 3) there can and should be exceptions to this. The place was nearly empty, it’s not like people were waiting for a table. And 4) not a block down the street there is The Lobby, a nicer cafe that is consistently packed where they never ask people to buy something or move along. They seem to have found a way to make a profit.
The customer said something about how he had never been told this before and clearly wasn’t happy. He was told it was the new owner’s instruction.
I personally always try to order at least a one (very over-priced) drink per every hour or so, but if it’s a requirement it should be posted. Either way I won’t be going back to this location.
