Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Environment ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Beautiful space with seating available.
Coffee ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
• Iced Tres Leches ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
Tasted like a fairly standard latte.
They also have a wide selection of coffee beans for purchase, which is a nice plus if you’re into trying different roasts.
Will I come back?
Yes—for the space and the beans, more than the drinks.

We went to Dune Coffee Roasters on State Street during a weekend getaway with two other couples, and this place absolutely hit the mark. The day before, we stopped at Handlebar for matcha, but it was honestly really watered down and just not great. So the next day we gave Dune Coffee a try, and wow, this was exactly what we were anticipating in terms of flavor and quality.
The ceremonial grade strawberry matcha was phenomenal. Hands down one of the best matchas we have ever had. They actually use real strawberries that are crushed into it, and it even had this strawberry dust sprinkled on top. The flavor was so smooth, not too bitter, not too sweet, just perfect. My wife and I are total matcha connoisseurs down in Orange County, and we were blown away by this one. The drinks were gone within seconds.
Our friends that were with us own a coffee shop, and even they were super impressed with the espresso and how fresh and flavorful the beans were. You can tell this is a true coffee place where they care about the craft and the quality.
We also grabbed a croissant and a chocolate croissant, both really flaky and delicious. Not sure if they were made in-house, but they tasted like they were. Everything from the drinks to the pastries was just on point.
If you are visiting Santa Barbara and want a spot that actually takes pride in what they make, this is it. We will 100 percent be coming back every time we are in town! Thank you for the staff being super sweet and kind as well!

Really delicious coffee. I ordered a single shot macchiato here and it was served so well and full. I had an unpleasant experience at the coffee shop close to this, but these folks were amazing. I also devoured their citrus olive oil cake. Yum! Oh and they are super dog friendly!!!

Delightful Cafe with good coffee and light meals! I enjoy the side outside eating area, and the cafe doesn’t get too loud despite the high ceilings and tile floors. Good espresso and drip, and the prices are reflective of this being a State Street cafe, yet the quality is good and justifies the prices in my opinion.
Good vibes and decent brunch. Worth a visit!

Local cafe with crafted drinks and pastries. A common hangout for regulars. 3rd wave coffee style is the standard. Servuce is prompt and speedy. The layout is simple with outdoor and indoor tables. As usual an ideal place to work or meet up for a cup of coffee.

One of several locations in the area. I often find Dune’s coffees more interesting than traditional coffee shops. Not only do they offer a wide variety of packaged coffee, but they also brew many of their varieties in both espresso and non-espresso drinks. If you want to mix up your coffee game a little, and are willing to try something different this is probably a good choice. Of course, they also have your traditional dark roast espresso coffee as well; ZipZinger is a great option along those lines. As with most other coffee shops in the area, there are selection of baked items available as well as some other food options.

A nice place to sit and read while enjoying some good coffee and pastries or snacks. They have wi-fi, but no plug points, which is probably a good thing. Very clean. Friendly, competent staff.
Sit inside or outside. Nice vibe.

I’ve been trying espressos all across the Santa Barbara and Montecito area, this is the best one I’ve found and the first one I’ve found that comes with sparkling water. The shop is very cute, my son loved the bean muffin and my wife enjoyed her unsweetened matcha. Will come back. Could easily be a regular here.

This was my 1st time visiting Dune, I was visiting from another state, staff was extremely friendly, nice, and very helping. I could not decide what I wanted so they recommended the Almond Croissant and a cappuccino. Both were phenomenal. The croissant was so good I had to order another. Def will be returning when I head back to Santa Barbara.

Great place for studying/working, and a popular spot to go to. Staff was very friendly, didn’t personally talk to them but I did see a some baristas making conversations with locals, very nice to see. Music was good for vibing with personally, lots of Taylor Swift. There are bathrooms, water cups, plenty of seating and wifi available for customers. I got a large Vanilla Latte and I recommend: I will probably come back some time!
