“I’m craving soup dumplings,” said my obsessed nine-year-old daughter. Since Soupy Dumpling & Fancy Cuppa was too far away, we walked into Dumpling Hot Pot Beyond after an evening school event on a Thursday around 7 p.m. One other person was just finishing their meal when we arrived.
Overall, the food was good. Once seated, a server hands you an iPad where you’ll order your food. To feed two adults and one child, all hungry, we ordered dan dan noodles, orange chicken, cucumbers, BBQ pork bao, pork dumplings, and, of course, soup dumplings. Every dish had good flavor. The dan dan noodles are more soupy compared to nearby Copycat, but it was still good.
One odd thing that may be a one off, but worth noting is the wait time. With one other person there and no takeout pickups and three people in the kitchen, it took 35 minutes to get our first dishes. Over an hour later, we got our final dish- orange chicken. We couldn’t figure out why there was such a long wait especially when other spots bring out the cucumbers within minutes of ordering. We were hungry so it added to the emotions, but worth calling out in case you’re a rush.

Been scouting this place for about 3 weeks for a birthday dinner. I called over a week in advance for a party of 7 – 13 people. They were able too accommodate and the food was GOOOOOD! That hotpot was smokin and I thought I choose a milder one but it was excellent in taste for me. Now this was the first time I have had it so don’t come at me if it doesn’t hit you taste buds the same.

This is one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have ever been. Food is plain bad and not authentic. The place is not clean and many bugs. I was attacked by mosqueitos in Nov and you can see the photos how bad my legs were bitten while there. The staff were nice and friendly but the service was barely there. I was so miserable and I ended up packing the food to leave (I really don’t even want to eat the food but i had to feed my kid something)

Good food, Chinese meal just the way I like it. Not doused in oil but steamed. All options are good but fried vermicelli noodles is my favourite

Food was pretty good. The scallion pancakes were delicious and the beef hotpot was also very good. The portion of hotpot was huge! One person definitely cannot eat this much food. Also, even the minimally spicy option is very spicy.

A few things to mention, 20% tip were mandatory but there is very little service, the whole time waitress was not showing up, only except when they bring up the food, and they charge for the go box. The young lady is not patient and giving you an attitude. The soup it’s ok, but the rice is not fully cooked hard and dry. Spend Jan 3th in DC, not the place I want to come back again.
In the end, does it looks like $160.00 kinda food? Definitely overpriced.

Food was amazing and it seems everything is made in house since there is a bit of a wait for the food. We had the Mapo tofu with minced pork, chairman’s pork, duck egg custard buns, bbq pork bao, crystal shrimp dumplings, Shanghai siu mai, soup dumplings, and Shanghai bao. My favorites was the custard buns…. absolutely gooey goodness and the tofu had incredible flavors. For 2 people it cost about $135 with tip included.

I’ve been here for dine in and pick up, and both experiences were great! The spring rolls are SOOO good – hot and crispy. The seaweed salad is delicious (and not spicy thankfully). The shrimp wonton soup was amazing (never had that before)… but the sesame chicken was the best sesame chicken I’ve ever had in my life! This is definitely a new fav spot!

Dumplings amazing, milk tea delicious and hot pot soooo good!! They don’t serve alcohol but it is a great place to eat. The waiter was efficient and friendly. And we were surprised by the bill, really decent price.
Definitely coming back and tasting other things on the menu.
Be careful for the one that don’t eat spicy, the “slightly spicy” is spicy and will make your tongue tingling (thanks Szechuan peppercorn). For the one that like heat, the hot pot is so flavorful that I don’t think you need to go to “highly spicy”, medium would work fine. You’ll have your entire mouth feeling weird.

We went there based on their good reviews on Google maps. Sadly, it was our worst chinese restaurant experience.
We were the only people there that evening.
The table was not properly cleaned. As I pointed that out, our server promptly cleaned that.
The plates were also not properly cleaned (greasy) needed to send them back.
The food was very underwhelming.
We ordered stesmed chicken and pork dumplings for appetizers, which were ok.
The entrees Braised duck leg and garlic chicken was not even properly hot. No flavor at all.
Seemed like they just took those dishes out of the refrigerator and warmed up for a minute before serving.
Disappointing experience, never going there again
