Absolutely sensational! Without a doubt, this is the best fish restaurant in Edinburgh. Every dish was fresh, bursting with flavour, and beautifully presented – you can really taste the quality and care that goes into the food. John and the whole team were just as impressive as the menu: warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making the experience unforgettable. A perfect balance of outstanding food and incredible service – can’t wait to come back!

Seafood at its finest! We have been hosted by a very nice waitress Melissa. She was very professional and genuinely nice.
We tried tasting menu and added scallops as per her recommendation. Scallops were probably best out of all dishes but don’t get me wrong, they were all amazingly tasty!
Would defo go back and recommend to anyone. Yes, it is pricey but quality comes at price!
Merci

We wanted a seafood fine dining experiences. We was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in we were treated like we were the only ones. We sat at a window seat to watch the city pass us by. We got the salad, the seafood platter and the soup of the day. It was my friends birthday and this place made it very special.

Dulse has a lively and warm atmosphere with some of the best seafood dishes in Edinburgh. Not only is the food fresh, local, and seasonal, but the chefs are constantly thinking up imaginative and beautiful ways to serve it, inspired by cuisines from all over the world. The whipped butter and the oyster sauces change frequently and never disappoint. The staff is attentive and very knowledgable, and the chefs are more than happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. Their extensive and delicious wine & cocktail list makes for the perfect accompaniment to the food. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Special anniversary meal here.
Amazing food, lovely service.
Unique and modern twist on seafood classics and a very creative team in the kitchen clearly. Every dish was excellent and unique in its own way.
We did a La carte and came to around £100 pp.

Food was excellent, but pricey for what you get. We had the tasting menu, which had some lovely dishes, to which we added a cheese course. While we had no complaints about the quality – the food was excellent, both texturally and great flavours – I wouldn’t say it was worth the cost. The portions were small, even for fine dining I’ve consistently had either larger portions or some sides to compensate in other restaurants. Both of us left hungry.
We also had some cocktails, which were great, but the special old fashioned was not particularly distinguishable and at 24GBP, that is hard to justify.
This may be normal these days in the UK for hospitality l, but I don’t think that’s sustainable long term. While we enjoyed the evening, I don’t think we’ll be back.

It was an incredible experience. As seafood lovers, the tasting menu was a lot of fun. Some highs, some lows (mostly to do with salt), but overall, we were very happy.
The ‘corn dog’ at the beginning was delightful, crispy, smoky, hot, and slightly spicy.
The second course was my favourite. I called it shreddies with fish. I’ve never had such a well-balanced and tasty bowl of shreddies! I would say the petals were a little unnecessary. It was such a different style of dish than I’ve ever had before, with the cubes of trout delicately nestled at the bottom of the bowl that . More pickles would have been welcomed, though.
The third course was the difficult one for us. We love mussles! And I absolutely adore fresh tarragon, so the flavours were spot on. The only issue was the broth. It was so salty that we were craving something unsalted to balance it.
I decided to order bread. which, as a standalone course, was fantastic. It was a paprika foccacia that felt like cornbread and tasted smoky and salty with a smoked salt butter. So delicious! But it definitely didn’t work or help with the mussel broth.
The fourth fish course was absolutely amazing. The fish melted in the mouth. Again, it was possibly a little salty and needed some more sharp flavours to cut through it. But overall, I couldn’t get enough of it.
The dessert, despite being far too full, was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. They managed to make rhubarb not slimy! And that sharp lime flavour was so tasty and very welcomed after all the sodium we had indulged on.
We would love to come back!

Excellent seafood with dishes that will surprise you like mussels served on a crumpet. Our first visit to Dulse and we were really impressed both by the food and service. Recommend the Taster Menu with the accompanying wine, served at a nice pace.
