Making a splash with their beloved burger, this Navy Yard location is the latest from what’s become the Duke’s Grocery empire. On the bottom floor of one of the new buildings, it’s spacious with plenty of tables and a long bar. My friend and I walked in on a Tuesday evening around 8 p.m. and got the last two seats at the bar. Despite ordering only drinks, the server was very kind and personable. My bourbon lemonade was refreshing and just sweet enough. With murals decorating the inside walls, it’s a half block from Nats Park and the Metro.

Always love coming to Duke’s! One of the top ten burgers in the city- maybe number 1 (which isn’t easy considering DC is known for its burgers)! All the sandwiches are great and the mood is very fun. Can’t recommend enough.

Best way to get input for foreign fare is to get a native to come with you. We brought our British lass to a PACKED Dukes last wknd, it was crazy. Amidst the insanity the efficient hostesses accommodated us promptly. Our waitress was fun and knew our vibes, drinks stat, food next. The food is good. The drinks are strong. The vibe is great. The music is the best! As one who grew up in MTVs heyday when the British Invasion took over music again, it was awesome hearing my fav tunes played in this over sized pub. Not pictured is the proper brekkie, wagyu burger and eggs Benedict. They were all legit.

Went this morning for brunch and to watch the EPL soccer game. The good – bottomless mimosas were strong and constantly refilled at the bar. The cubano was really good. I wanted to love the fish and chips but the fish itself was super salty though the breading and tartar sauce was nice.

I’m digging Dukes more and more; the Proper burger is as good as advertised and the Fired Up chicken is quickly becoming a favorite.

Kaleb at Duke’s was very attentive. He immediately waited on me although the venue was packed for a singles event. I received my food quickly and correctly. He was extremely polite and checked in throughout my time at Duke’s. The food was really good after a long day, hot and fresh. The deviled eggs were a bit salty however, still good. The fish and chips was perfect; the mushy peas were what they were, but honestly, better than I’ve had in London. When I wasn’t at my table when my food came, one of the bartenders even covered my food up for me. Overall, my experience at Duke’s was great and everyone working was constantly checking on us to ensure our experience was pleasant. I would definitely return again, Duke’s staff was amazing. Looking forward to seeing you all again in Navy Yard.

What I love about the place is the atmosphere they create. You can tell that whoever runs it is conscientious about creating an environment that is interactive and engaging. I’m currently writing this with a winter wonderland theme.
The staff is all incredibly friendly and personable. If you need a good cocktail, ask the bartender Mark for a dealer’s choice and you won’t be disappointed.
Food is all good, a little too big for me and the sandwiches can be a little TOO much. But it’s still good and you’ll be satisfied. The chorizo fries are phenomenal.

Duke’s Grocery is such a great addition to the Navy Yard nightlife scene! It has that British vibe, and the food and drinks are great! I live in the neighborhood and this is my regular spot!

I never post reviews but thought this was needed because it was so abysmal. I recently went to Duke’s navy yard and had the worst service imaginable. I decided to give it another try the following week, and everything was somehow worse. The service was abominable and the hosts would not acknowledge my party (who had a reservation) for 10 minutes. We were just standing there while they were chitchatting amongst themselves. We still had to wait over 20 mins for a table when he had a reservation. The service was bad, drinks never came, and they didn’t even give us water. It took forever to get our server’s attention. The bar was packed and did not have enough bar tenders to accommodate all of the patrons. I don’t know whose bright idea it was to have karaoke happening simultaneously, but it was atrocious. It was way too loud and I couldn’t even hear my friends talk. Everything was expensive and they tried to charge for items that never even made it to our table. I was so excited for this Narnia themed bar, but I will not be coming back. I went last year, and it was not this bad. Don’t waste your time giving them your business, especially not during the holiday season. The burger I ordered was okay, but definitely overpriced. Our food came out before we even had water or drinks. I’m extremely disappointed in the entire experience. Rant over.
