I had been staying at hotel near this place and decided to try it out. This is a family owned place with food that is made with love! Wow! I was extremely surprised how savory and delicious the food was. I had everything on the menu from the curry goat to the BBQ chicken wings. The oxtails are to die for. Call ahead and make sure they have them because they sell out fast. It’s a small place. No tables but worth the trip!! Feeds the soul if you know what I mean.

This place was ran by a father and his son! They do a great job of keeping things fast and easy and had real authentic jerk food!! I enjoyed my food, you can only get yours to carry out but would go back again!

This is a carryout only establishment. The Staff was super friendly and helpful. Every family has the one person who is a terrible cook but doesn’t know it Mr. or Mrs. Duckman, who’s ever the cook, is that person. I’ve had the opportunity to have many Jamaican meals from home cooks and professionals all were better than Duckman’s. I ordered food for my family; we didn’t enjoy anything. I ordered Jerk Chicken dinner with cabbage and red beans and rice (rice and peas) Stewed Chicken with mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. The entrees: The spices didn’t marry well. Jerk Chicken someone hasn’t learned how to properly use a grill the jerk chicken was reminiscent of bad backyard barbecues with the flappy chicken skin and dry meat. Stew chicken had sauce and was moist, but it wasn’t tasty it was spicy but yet lacked flavor. The sides: red beans and rice was actually what Caribbean people call rice and peas (rice usually cooked with a bit of coconut milk and dried beans are added) it didn’t taste like any coconut milk was used. The cabbage wasn’t bad it didn’t have carrots like I’ve had from every other Jamaican, but no biggie. The mac and cheese was straight out of the box cheese flavor packet used but no milk to mix it topped with cheese that looked melted hours prior. The sweet potatoes were over cooked but tasted ok. I got someone’s banana pudding by mistake. I do not like banana pudding at all. I hate bananas and can’t stand soggy cookies, so I didn’t try it. My teenage son who eats everything tried it and hated it, so he threw it away. I cannot recommend this place to anyone

I tried this restaurant a couple of times while visiting Illinois this past winter, and it was great each time. We ordered the Oxtails and Jerk Chicken, they were both flavorful and better than I expected from a small city. 7 months later I’m back again for the jerk chicken, and it is better than the first time we ate here. It’s 40 min detour off of I-90 that is worth the time. I will definitely be back as long as the food remains top quality.

AMAZING! You can smell this place from the moment you pull up — and it is glorious. Convenient walk-up window on a bustling downtown corner. Ordered the jerk tacos, mac n cheese and cornbread with a pineapple soda. Everything was absolutely delicious and the cornbread had a wonderful kick to it. Affordable prices, incredible flavors and warm service. Will be back and would recommend. Thank you so much!

My boyfriend and I drove from rockford to try it because we have no Jamaican food around here. We were not disappointed. We told him to give us a little of everything (mostly) and it was all really good. The goat and jerk chicken were amazing loved the spicy corn bread. I made a video review for youtube and it’ll be on my channel in the next couple of days the channel is called KylieJ

Highly recommend this place if you wanna try Jamaican food/soul food. Me and my family were nearby the area after our trip from Galena, and came across this place after searching a place to eat. The food was delicious and me and my family ordered one whole Jamaican jerk chicken (plain) and 3 Jamaican jerk bbq chicken dinner (mild sauce) with a side of rice and Mac and cheese. Both the sides tasted great and the chicken from both flavors tasted delicious as well!! Would def come back if nearby the area again.

I told y’all I come back to this place over and over again! Every time I’m impressed, even after having the same menu items several times by now. These guys simply do not miss. The flavors are stellar, the portions are good, and the fair prices mean I can come back often. Pictured here was jerk wings with hot sauce, yams, and mac and cheese. When you go, ask if they happen to have banana pudding. That stuff is special but they sell out quick (for a reason!). Don’t wait- go get you some Duckman’s!

This is the place. The place you hear about that if you didn’t know it was there you may drive right past. The place where the food does the talking and nothing else matters. Most authentic jerk I have had stateside. Well done! I will definitely be back.
