When the chef doesn’t care …
Service and atmosphere:
Restaurant looked very nice inside. It was well decorated and offered plenty of seating options.
Service was good.
Food and drinks:
The wonton soup was way too salty and left greasy feeling on the roof of the mouth. Not good.
Second course of steamed scallops with vermicelli didn’t even arrive. Our server told us that the chef left half way prep for his lunch and didn’t bother finishing the dish. When the second chef arrived, it was already 30 min into wait time post the order, so we cancelled that order. Our waitress also advised us that this wasn’t the first time this happened and apologised for the bad experience.
Old fashioned cocktail wasn’t prepared correctly either.
Would we return or recommend this place? No.
Pricing:
$$ but not worth it.

Solid place to grab a bite. My cocktail and Dan Dan noodles were good. The portion sizes of the food was not huge, which for me was a good thing. I couldn’t take any leftovers with me. The patio was a nice space. Our waitress was also nice. Overall it was a nice experience and no complaints.

Has consistently been great! We love the soup dumplings, shumai, spicy edamame, garlic bok choy, fried rice, and crispy spicy chicken. The red chili oil is also delicious. I also like the wine list and the bar area for watching sports. The staff is always friendly and helpful too. Also, like the atmosphere, comfortable and clean, and they even have some neat serving dishes for sale in decorative glass cases. We’ll definitely keep going back! Highly recommend it!

Jocasta was our server and she did an amazing job! E are from Alaska and just moved her and this place is our go to spot now for dumplings! I had the Peking duck first time and it was delicious! In Alaska we don’t have a place that actually cooks it properly especially with the crispy skin! The dumplings for me have been the best ones to date! Great job kitchen and we can’t wait to be back!

Tried this place after I worked up an appetite at Little Woodrow’s waiting for my wife to do some shopping in the area. We shared the soup dumplings and she had the Lo Mein and myself the 3 Pepper Chicken. Everything was delicious. The 3 Pepper Chicken was very fragrant and after adding a dash of soy sauce perfectly seasoned. I really like the chili oil for the extra kick! The waitress was very welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be back another time to try the duck. Highly recommend this place.

I found Duck N Bao through the “Eat like a local” TV show and decided to check it out and I’m so glad I did! This place is hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants in Houston. It’s super clean, modern, and has a warm inviting vibe. We tried some of their most popular dishes, the half Peking duck, original pork soup dumplings, and wontons with crab meat and every bite was amazing. The flavors were spot on, the food came out fresh and hot, and you can really tell they use quality ingredients. If you’re looking for delicious, close-to authentic Chinese food in Houston, this is one of the spots. I’ll definitely be coming back soon with the rest of my crew.

Came here without much expectation. Turns out the food here is pretty decent! Portions were generous and majority of the dishes were great. Tbh, there weren’t any epic dishes that I would rave about, but overall, I feel like they have a good variety of dishes. Plenty of parking spaces near rice village.

The drinks are not good. Not balanced at all to say the least. The food is average, boring at best. The textures are good, but the flavor is lacking. I was very disappointed especially seeing that the reviews were good. My server was kind. But unfortunately, I will not be back.

Delicious food and so much MORE food than expected. I appreciate a smaller menu and you can tell it allows them to make it excellent while also allowing patrons affordable options. We went around 2, so it was pretty empty. Would definitely go again.
Special mentions: soup dumplings yum! Pork belly yum! Minced duck with lettuce wrap yum!
