We would definitely recommend – thanks for taking care of us!
From the Scottish couple 🙂 aye!
The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Service is quite fast even when the place is busy. It’s a nice place to enjoy a satisfying meal with family or friends.
Highly recommended if you are looking for tasty Indian food in Penang
The cheese garlic naan was soft, warm, and tasty, while the kheema cheese naan was a standout. The combination of flavourful minced meat and melted cheese worked really well together. The Aambur chicken briyani was another hit, with fragrant, flavourful rice and a generous amount of chicken pieces.
The sizzling prawn arrived piping hot and tasted delicious. The prawns were fresh and well-seasoned, and it is definitely a dish I would recommend. The paneer lababdar was good overall, with a rich and tasty gravy, though the paneer itself was slightly on the harder side. The chicken tikka masala had a classic, comforting flavour and paired perfectly with the naan.
It was my first time trying fish moilee, and I absolutely loved it. The cubes of fish cutlets in the coconut milk based gravy were flavourful and comforting, and it is another must try. The gobi manchurian was tasty and generously coated with sauce, which made it enjoyable.
For drinks, the nannari sarbath was refreshing, and the lime juice was good as well. However, the amla juice was not to my liking. To end the meal, we had gulab jamun, which tasted good but was slightly chewy and not as soft as the usual ones.
The service was good, and the waiters were helpful and attentive. The ambiance of the place was pleasant and comfortable. It would be wise to make a reservation before coming, as the place can get packed during peak hours. There is plenty of street parking available, but it can be quite difficult to find a spot during busy hours.
Overall, it was a great spread with plenty of delicious dishes, and I would definitely consider returning.
You’re pretty much paying a premium for the nice chairs and the lighting, which probably explains why the dining room is so empty. To make matters worse, the toilets were pretty untidy, which definitely doesn’t match the “fancy” look of the rest of the place. Please, just add some salt or some flavour, anything would be an improvement at this point.
I am very particular about taste in the food.

The service is really bad and the food is even worse. I honestly felt like the food was recycled. I ordered the fish thali set and the fish was clearly over-fried and not fresh at all. The rice was terrible — I could smell and taste a burnt flavor while eating.
When I complained, the staff didn’t bother to address the issue properly. They just took my plate and replaced with empty plate without any explanation or apology. During payment, they simply showed me the bill without even acknowledging what happened.
Definitely not coming back again.
Kumara, their steward, is a well-trained and friendly staff member.
D’Sakra offers not only good food, but great service too.
