On a weekday evening, I drove down to Laguna Beach with my family to catch the sunset and finally try Driftwood Kitchen. We’ve been to its sister restaurant, The Deck, a few times before, so this time we wanted to see how DK compares. Since we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated a bit further inside. We could still see the horizon, but I’d definitely recommend booking in advance and asking for a patio table—watching the sun slowly dip into the ocean with the sound of waves right below you really elevates the whole experience. It’s an ideal spot for date nights or special occasions.
I ordered the Surf and Turf, which comes with a 6oz filet mignon and a shelled lobster tail. I requested medium rare, but it came out closer to medium. That said, the filet was still tender and juicy, with a fine texture and no chewiness. The lobster tail was fresh and nicely bouncy. The real standout of the night was the seared scallops—beautiful crust on the outside, perfectly tender inside. Paired with a mushroom medley and smooth mashed potatoes, the dish had great depth and balance. On the other hand, the lobster carbonara was underwhelming. The seasoning felt flat; it was dominated by a heavy Parmesan flavor without enough black pepper or complexity. The complimentary rolls were very good though—topped with sea salt and rosemary, lightly crisp outside and soft inside.
For three people, the total came to a little over $220 including tip. Service was professional and friendly throughout—water refills were prompt and pacing between courses was well managed. Flavor-wise, I’d say it’s slightly behind The Deck next door, but the ambiance here feels more refined and better suited for a romantic evening.

Beautiful ocean views and a great spot for brunch or lunch! The clam chowder was delicious, and they let us bring our own wine for a $25 corkage fee. I loved the crab eggs benedict, and the oysters were super fresh. All the egg dishes were tasty, though the coffee have room for improvement could be stronger and taste better kind of match the restaurant class !
Service was kind and welcoming. Parking is the downside ,valet is expensive, and we ended up spending $65 for the day. Still, highly recommend for the food, views, and overall experience!

Decided to try this awesome spot. My wife and I was blown away, from the charm when you first walk in and the top notch customer service we received upon entering. As soon as we sat down Austin greeted us, very attentive from beginning to end. For drink I had a passionate one, Must try for sure. And my wife had Moet champagne. For breakfast we split the gronala french toast and the egg griddle. French toast was mouth watering, light and redicolusy good. The griddle was a very nice size portion that fed both of us. We definitely left with a full belly but.most important a very excellent impression. Thanks Austin for the service and kindness. Sitting outdoors is a treasure for sure.

We arrived and asked for outdoor sitting , server said not possible in a very non friendly way. We said we are tourists from a cold country and will appreciate to be seated outdoor and he refused although there were two sits available. The fish and chips was nice – fries were so oily but the cod was nicely cooked and thick and juicy and very tasty. Burger was just ok. Chicken was nice and cooked in unique way.
Our server did not even smile once and whatever we asked he gave us an unfriendly look and he showed he’s unhappy with the tip in a rude way i have never seen in a restaurant or maybe we weren’t used to culture.
Anyhow we were looking to have a pleasant time there and left in a bad mood.

Beautiful spot with an amazing ocean view! Our server Bianca was super sweet and made us feel very welcome. The cocktails and blueberry pancakes were great, and my daughter enjoyed her eggs and potatoes. I ordered the veggie hash and was disappointed to find it had a cashew cream sauce that wasn’t listed on the menu—it totally overpowered the dish and wasn’t to my taste. Aside from that, we had a great experience and would come back for the atmosphere, drinks, and service.

Our breakfast at Driftwood Kitchen in Laguna Beach was a letdown. Despite 80% of the tables being open, we were stuck waiting 30 minutes to be seated, which was frustrating and unnecessary. The hostess seemed disorganized and could benefit from better training to manage the seating process efficiently. The servers appeared bored with nothing to do, as most tables were empty, yet the service was surprisingly slow. The oceanfront atmosphere was beautiful, and the breakfast menu had potential, but the poor customer service and long wait overshadowed the dining experience. For a Laguna Beach restaurant known for its coastal dining, I expected better hospitality. Hopefully, they improve their service flow for future guests.

Driftwood Kitchen is such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset, and make it a perfect spot for a date night or special evening out. The service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive without ever feeling rushed. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared, artistically plated, and full of flavor. Everything about the experience felt thoughtful and relaxed. Between the views, the atmosphere, and the quality of the food, it’s a place you’ll want to come back to in beautiful Laguna Beach. Highly recommend.

Had a clam chowder cup and it was very good. Tasted fresh and creamy. The French fries were nice and crispy on the outside and the ranch was amazing. Made in house and different. The view was nice also. The things I didn’t love was that it was a little confusing to find, it was all valet parking and everything was expensive.

Great spot for brunch. Started with the lobster flauta and Brussel sprouts both of which were excellent. Crab omelette was really well cooked, eggs light and plenty of crab meet. Nice selection of cocktails. Great ocean views but note seats on the outside deck can only seat 2.
