Great find. The Ferment Flight was a great introduction to all their wares. We also picked up a bag of their cultured crackers, vegan and gluten free (GF) – amazing. The Nicaragua pour of was dark without being bitter – rich and smooth. So glad we took the detour to stop in.

I love Drifters Ferments. Tara is a fermentation artist – the real deal – and everything here is delicious. Favorites: the vegetable crackers, fermented cashew spread, and the fermented veggies (especially Golden Dandy). The chai lattes are to die for, and the sourdough always looks amazing. Also an awesome, thoughtfully curated grocery selection (yes, she even has natto!). Mindful local sourcing, great vibes, and honestly my favorite place to eat in the area. Highly recommend!!!

Very unfriendly, wouldn’t give my wife back her change. When we got home, we had to throw out two $18 loaves of bread because they were RAW… How do you sell raw bread? Incredibly disappointed. Highly recommend you shop elsewhere.

There is really no place like Drifter, just as there is no one exactly like the singular Tara who runs it. This is a place where nearly every part of every meal has been handmade and specially prepared in advance by the owner, whose passion for and erudition about food, especially of the fermented kind, infuses every ingredient with meaningful content, flavorful nuance, and nutritional richness. Tara is the author and illustrator of a book, Fermentation on Wheels, based on her experience teaching about fermentation from a bus she lived in across the country. Tara cares deeply about sustainability, local agriculture, the nutritional properties of food, and the complex interplay of quality ingredients with the human biome. I never really liked tempeh much before eating here; now I have to eat one of Tara’s tempeh sandwiches off the sourdough bread she bakes fresh every morning with her fermented ingredients on it nearly every week I can. Her miso ginger chocolate chip cookies and new brownies are a treat. Drifter also offers the only pour-over cup of coffee in town and a variety of delicious warm drinks; the coffee and these are other drinks are always robust and satisfying. In addition to all the delicious, nutritious things there are to eat and drink in the cafe, Drifter is a store where you can purchase Tara’s fresh ferments, high-quality can foods, kombucha, local sheep yogurt, handmade soaps, coffee beans, small batch oatmeal, and a number of other provisions sourced and selected by Tara with a curatorial eye for excellence. Everyone else who I’ve ever encountered working there is very friendly and extremely capable. Drifter is a very small place with usually one, sometimes two people working it, creating everything from scratch. This is slow food and and it may take some time to get what you ordered, but it is always worth the wait and it’s likely you’ll meet interesting, somewhat like-minded people and have a nice conversation while waiting.

My husband and I went here this morning. The woman who helped us was very rude. I asked her what ingredients are in the bread and she was annoyed by the question. We got sourdough bread to take home. The cost was $18 and we handed her an $20. When I put my hand out for our change, she would not hand it back to us. To assume the change is your tip is extremely rude. We normally tip, however to not hand us back the $2… while my hand is extended for our change…..unbelievable. All of this could be forgivable if the bread wasn’t raw….we got home to cut open the loaf and the inside was raw dough. Never going back. Overpriced for lackluster service all to end up with raw bread.

Such a unique and healthy place to eat! Everything that we tried was delicious, and it’s the kind of food that leaves you feeling good! The BBQ Tempeh sandwich was bursting with flavor, and the chocolate chip cookies were the perfect amount of sweet! My Minty Matcha latte was also a great choice. Love the creativity of their menu!

Drifter has the best pour over coffee in Warwick and a killer thick Rueben! All ingredients made in house, Pacific North West vibes ♥️. Her knowledge and passion for fermentation and ethical organic sourcing is above and beyond. Come here for a new food experience!
