Date night with the lady – we got lost in the tasty food and awesome service, so we didn’t take any photos beyond the first course… that’s how it should be, right!? Highlights were the sea urchin and steak, both incredible. Had fun trying lamb heart. Seems like their menu is always getting shuffled – I’d recommend exploring and trying something new on your visit. It’ll be great.

Dreyfus is absolutely incredible and without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the city. The various dishes are perfectly executed and full of flavour in exquisite combinations that work flawlessly. The ever changing menu is relatively small but works fantastically since you can order a few dishes and sample almost everything. I’ve been to the restaurant maybe 5 times and I was positively surprised every single one of them.

The only slight negative part of my last visit was the service. Our server was very nonchalant when explaining the dishes and recommended two wines that my table didn’t enjoy at all. On top of that, she said one of the bottles was “somewhere around $90” but when the bill arrived it was 130 – sorry but 50% more expensive than advertised is not ok – not because of the money, as a principle.

I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves food. Definitely worth a night out.

Great spot with amazing service. It’s a small, cozy space so doesn’t feel snobby/too snobby. We sat at the bar and was cool watching them prep cocktails and small dishes. The menu changes weekly.
We had the tuna (very soft and flavourful), lamb tartar (very mild and stuffed olives were great) and the very unique trout and leek pastry puff. The French toast was a cool savoury dessert. The server was very knowledgeable.

Went with friends on a recommendation. Cozy spot. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Menu is sharing type and staff helped us walk thru it, understand the portion sizes so we could order the right amount. Food was fantastic. Well presented and prepared as well as being tasty. Nice wine list and staff were helpful selecting a wine that would go with what we ordered. Would recommend trying it out.

Absolutely the best! We celebrated our anniversary here, and it did not disappoint at all. The potato bread was outstanding, and the flavor combinations were amazing. We loved every bite and would definitely recommend it to friends!

This was my fifth time dining here and now writing a review for the first time. It used to be one of my favourite places in the city, but sadly the quality of food has absolutely declined since my last time a year ago. This time we got six dishes:

– Pomme dauphines: A staple at this place and used to always hit. Not sure if we just got a bad batch, but this time they were cold and soggy. There was also a whole piece of dill on the topping which really should’ve been chopped up. Cured salmon roe was quite nice though.

– Cappelletti aux duxelles: The only enjoyable dish that night. Perfectly cooked pasta with a very strong mushroom jus that worked well.

– Fish soup with saffron and mussels: The combination of white fish/mussels in a broth that was a mix of tomato-y and a white, light broth didnt work and really detracted from what could’ve been a nice side dish.

– Trout and leeks pastry: Really wanted to like this, but the end result was quite bland and could not be saved by the otherwise excellent beurre blanc sauce.

– Duck with sausage: Quite possibly the worst dish of the night. Duck was dry. The house made sausage with offals was, without exaggeration, absolutely flavorless that it was shocking. Both of which were served on a bed of baked beans that were only a few steps removed from the Heinz brand in terms of flavour.

The service was average that night, but worse than what we experienced previously. Hopefully this was just an off night for them.

Came here as a party of 3. One of my friends had seen Dreyfus on social media and recommended that we give it a try.

Maybe I’m just not into French food or something, or I’m just not rich…but the value for this meal in my opinion was just…so poor.

Firstly, even though I knew it was going to be on the more expensive side, I didn’t expect the food quality to be that mediocre for its prices. I would say the best dish of the night was probably the pommes dauphines (the ikura dip was quite good). Otherwise, the other dishes were all a little too sour or too salty. Notably, for the fruits de mer – I found the shrimp a bit too rubbery/chewy for it to be worth $28. 4 shrimps on the plate. I ain’t never paid $7 per chewy shrimp before. Sauces were also not super impressive to me.

As for amount of food, I left the restaurant still fully capable of eating a Big Mac combo. I was not full at all. We ordered 5 dishes (they recommended 6 dishes for 3 people – but we were already hurting thinking about how much we’d spend a person so we just went with 5). But even with 5 dishes, our meal came out to almost $70/person, and I was NOT NEARLY FULL. I was surprised they didn’t even have bread considering how much they skimp out on the mains. Perhaps the “heavier” mains that we didn’t try, like the steak or salmon, would’ve been better. We only tried the pappardelle (which frankly, tasted like a basic pasta and decent at best). But for those prices I might as well have gone to Jules Bistro for a half-off ginormous steak & fries with house-made peppercorn sauce.

On the bright side, the service was great and the restaurant is quaint, pretty, cozy, and a vibe. Unfortunately however, these factors couldn’t stop me from feeling a bit scammed with the amount of money I spent on such little food.

As a French food lover I am biased. Every single dish is made with care and portions are great. Go and feel great. Take your date or best friend for a real treat.

Fabulous attention to detail ! Dreyfus somehow brought together the best details of my favorite restaurants. Every dish was fresh, interesting and balanced. The staff was effortlessly sharp and charming. The decor and aesthetic are spot on, extra points for the antique judaica and glossy brown paint above the tile wainscoting in washroom, it felt like a French bistro meets high end classic in the Jewish quarter in Rome.
I started with the potato dauphine. I was ignorantly expecting a dauphinoise but I was pleasantly surprised at the perfectly crispy and chewy puff and how fresh the salmon roe and crème were. We shared the bitter winter salad, which was an ideal balance to the dauphine, I am always a sucker for anchovy dressings. For the mains we split the agnolotti pasta stuffed with ricotta and lemon zest, wading in a saffron butter with a crispy leaf of sage laying in top. Truly a perfect dish. I had had a deliscious squash filled agnolotti in Montreal a couple nights earlier but my only qualm was the fact the sage was not crispy. Thankfully redemption presented itself in this dish. We also split the trout and shrimps in the fine buttery curry sauce. Also phenomenal. Finally I finished off with the crepe Suzette appropriately served on a plate from brasserie Lipp, as it was totally on point and world class. The bitter orange and tender crape gently nudged me into a food coma. I had oddly realistic dreams that night.

Went on a Friday right when restaurant opened and luckily got a table without a reservation.

Service was amazing, super helpful with wine and food choices.

The menu changes daily, which is cool. Food was a bit too salty and heavy for me.

Still worth trying if you’re curious, just don’t expect too much from the food.
