I pass this restaurant frequently and just decided to stop by. My first time ordering takeout from here, I ordered Spicy Pepper Fried Fish. Their customer service is attentive from the time you walk in the door. What I ordered took 17 minutes to complete at best. The meal was still hot by the time I got to my destination. When you order from here I will recommend to order non-spicy or ask that the peppers be removed due to the amount of spicy peppers that were added to the meal; unless you like a lot of spice. Outside of the level of spicy, the food was very good.

Food was really good. Prices not to bad. Spicy isn’t spicy. Had the Beef with Spicy Garlic sauce. Packed full of flavor, but not much kick or spice. The Gyoza ( Dumplings) were pretty good, not enough dipping suave. Had 2 egg rolls which were regular egg rolls. Pretty slow, and dirty tables. Service was fast though.

Loved their Singapore noodles and decent prices until I found gravel in my food. Will never order from here again

Decent Chinese food restaurant. I ordered the twice cooked pork belly with leeks (which came with a bowl of rice) and the shredded pork and pickled radish noodle soup. The pork belly dish was actually quite tasty, the noodle soup was decent but the broth was a bit bland and the meat/noodle wasn’t really seasoned.

A couple years ago I ordered an online pickup for some fried rice and orange chicken, they mentioned a 12-15 minute wait and when I arrived after they stated on the app that the food was ready for pickup, they actually said “we don’t have order boxed yet” and waited in car for 10 minutes extra since they never sent a message saying “we have your order waiting at the front”. When we got to our place, the food had been sitting at the restaurant for so long that the rice was cold and the chicken didn’t have steam coming from it so I’d advise you to stay away from this place

We love Shanghai but we’re really disappointed today. We always order Chinese for Christmas dinner, and know it’s a little lengthy of a wait. Tonight it said 90 minutes which was fine, but my husband leaves to pick it up, gets there and they haven’t even started it. They said it would be another hour. If it had been a 2 and 1/2 hour wait from the beginning and they had said that upfront it would have been one thing, but they didn’t, and so we had to cancel our order, and that left us without dinner. Very disappointed for what is typically a good experience.

It was my first time visiting here and I’ll be back. I was promptly greeted and seated by the host, who was also my waiter. He took my drink order and came back with the drink. He gave me a few minutes to look over the menu and returned to take my order. I had chicken on a stick as an appetizer. It was so delicious!! Tender and flavorful!! As the entrée, I ordered the shrimp fried rice with egg roll and egg drop soup. All the food was hot and tasted fresh!! The egg drop soup could’ve used more flavor. The shrimp fried rice was a good portion with a decent amount of shrimp in it. The egg roll was the standard in taste. The waiter checked on me frequently. Great food and fantastic service!!

Don’t understand some of the negative reviews — the staff has always been very cordial with me (offering me chili oil when I’m getting take-out, which they know I like on the side). When it comes to the food, it’s within the top five strip-mall style Chinese restaurants in Durham. It’s not “high-end” food, but neither is it your typical Chinese fare that’s watered down in terms of spice for the American palate. Dragon Inn has that type of fare available on their regular menu, but if you order from the “Authentic Chinese Dish” section of the menu, you’ll find very authentic options, with levels of spice that’ll satisfy even the most seasoned — pun intended — heat lover.
Might I recommend the Spicy & Pepper Fried Fish Filet? This is like the Chinese version of Fish & Chips, but on steroids in terms of heat.
The take-out in the picture is of their ChongQuing Chili Chicken. The food is so delicious that I order once every couple of weeks or so, as a treat to myself, and wash it down with a craft imperial stout.

Order from the authentic Chinese menu for some of the best food I’ve ever had! Love the batter on the spicy fried fish and shrimp!

I’ve been to China. My wife is Chinese. Skip the Americanized fake stuff like “General Tso” or “Sesame Chicken” and taste the authentic dishes they serve here. Authentic Chinese food is remarkable, but less fried, oily and sugary/salty which is why your pallet may not be used to it. We ordered our food from Grubhub so I cannot comment on cleanliness or service other than my order was correct, tasted great and there was nothing wrong with it. I will be back..
