Wow. I have been hearing great things about this place and it really lives up to the hype! It’s a small space with 3 high tops and 3 low tops (of 2 each), a community table holding 8 and bar seating for 10. The menu is meant for sharing and our servers recommendations were top notch. She even thought about the fact that there were two of us and probably wouldn’t want to order too much of the bigger portioned items. We had broccoli which was served with a sesame paste and pickled onions which together the flavors were amazing. We had the hot honey spicy karaage chicken. Hot, light, and delicious! And finally, we had the crab fried rice. There is a reason everyone orders it. So good!
We went early, got lucky, and got the last table! I can’t wait to go back!!!

I’ve been a huge fan of Dozo and Chef Nakanishi since opening of their Seversville location. The new location offer nice counter to accommodate for 1-2 person party and variety of Sake.
Their Donburi selection is fantastic and that’s coming from a Japanese native. We had Katsu-don, Katsu Curry-don, and Karaage with hot honey.
Karaage was a huge homerun for myself and my coworker. Chili crisp and hot ad tangy asian sauce was excellent on their twice fried Karaage.
Definitely recommend everyone to try their excellent lunch selection.

The waiter was knowledgeable about what items were gluten free. They use a gluten free soy sauce and gluten free starch for frying. They do NOT have a dedicated fryer. The safest items are the spicy beef yakiniku, chicken nitsuke, and sashimi, agedashi. The karaage is also gluten free, but it is in the same fryer.
I am gluten sensitive and ordered the karaage, and the chef himself asked if I was okay because it was fried in the same fryer!
My meal was delicious and the karaage was the entire chicken thighs. It was tender, moist, and full of flavor! Even their salad with the ginger dressing was amazing.

Wow. Everything was fantastic. The crab fried rice might be my favorite dish in Charlotte right now. There wasn’t a single thing we ordered that wasn’t delicious. Cool atmosphere inside. Deron behind the bar is awesome. Makes excellent drinks, super knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and is an all around friendly guy. The whole experience was great. You’ll have to wait a bit for a table, but it’s worth it.

This is now one of my favorite places to eat. My last time there, I had seasonal dish of grouper with kale and sweet potato. Love the fried chicken and the crab fried rice. The charred broccoli is delicious. Everything is fresh and in season. The dining area is small so this is a place to go with a small group of people or even solo.

Went with a couple of girlfriends on the second night they were open at the new location. We were blown away. The food was incredible, drinks were tasty and unique. The owners even personally walked us through some of the dishes. If you are able, try to sit at the open kitchen bar with a direct view to Perry and his team. Highly recommend this establishment! I wish them so much success

A perfect lunch. Friendly and studied staff make sure you have the best possible experience. Substantial and well seasoned portions, without a single menu item over $20. The interior design is awesome, but we sat on the patio because it was a beautiful day. Will go again, and again, and again.

Truly outstanding! Highly Recommend. We had high expectations because we love Katsu Cart and all the dishes we tried exceeded our hopes! So delicious, creative, and flavorful. We loved the cabbage pancake, the crab fried rice, and the spicy fried chicken. Can’t wait to see what they do next and we’ll certainly be back for more!
