We made a reservation for my birthday on a Saturday night. Drinks were tasty and beers were fresh. The table ordered a flaming cheese and calamari. Both were good. Dinner was whitefish and lamb chop. We both loved our meals! For my birthday, they surprised me with fried Oreos. Yum!!! We will definitely be back!

This is a great place to hang with friends! Great food and service. We enjoyed the Reuben sandwich that is big enough to share! Fries nice and crispy. Had the Irish Burger (had corned beef on top).very tasty. Also had the Albanian salad that was tomatoes, cucumber and feta cheese. Lots of beer on tap. Sports bar vibe.

December 2024 – came here on a date night before going to the Fillmore to see Brian Regan. Wonderful place and loved the inside. We ordered the Steak Bites and the sauce was very good. The steak was good. My wife ordered the Reuben and I ordered the pork chops. I did see an elevator in the basement. They do have a bathroom and a great place to visit before doing something else in Detroit.

The atmosphere was amazing. All the food came out at different times, they are not busy at all. I ordered the broccolini as a side $8, I received regular broccoli. Keylime pie & a Chocolate cake were on the dessert menu they do not have either.

It was a quiet and slow night for Downtown Louie’s on the Friday we made it into town for a very fast stop to pay our respects to my husband’s uncle. The restaurant was not far from our hotel and our server was attentive and sweet. The inside of the restaurant has original wood and an area overlooking the street and the restaurant right hovering over the entrance that my son wondered how people got up to sit at the table housed there. Our server informed us it was just for decoration. We noted it would be cool if people could sit there, as it would be a romantic and coveted seat to reserve. I had a chicken dish with mashed potatoes and spinach. The chicken was a bit overcooked but was saved by the potent lemon seasoning. The mashed potatoes were a bit chunky and had the right touch of garlic and butter, but I was unable to finish them after sharing an order of truffle fries as an appetizer with the table. If you are in the downtown Detroit area, I do suggest trying Downtown Louie’s, as it is more affordable than other venues and is convenient to most hotels there.

Enjoyed dinner last night at Louie’s Grill. Food was very good. The folks at our table had a turkey burger with grilled onions, Gruyère, and fig jam which had the right amount of sweet and salt; pork chops with mashed potatoes and asparagus which were delicious; a very good chicken club and a trio of sliders which were large enough for two to share. Everything was hot and the fries had just the right amount of crispiness. Service was top notch and the restaurant has an upscale sports bar vibe. Prices were reasonable ($15-25 for our meals). It’s within a short walk of many downtown venues including The Opera House, Fox, & Comerica Park.

Ordered an east side burger, was supposed to come with wedge fries. When I came in to pick up my order she said they tried to inform me they ran out of hamburger buns but I never received a call from them and when I mentioned that they didn’t try to reach out she said she didn’t have my number, so I’m not sure why they’d say they tried to inform me— if that was the case I wouldn’t have came. Burger was undercooked so was the “Texas toast” they put it on. Asked for mayo & ketchup and received mayo and mustard instead. Just be aware you will not receive what you order. Just seems like they’re putting anything out to make an order. Not as advertised.

Came here for dinner with friends last weekend. The restaurant itself is really cool. I love the layout, vibes, atmosphere and overall decor. Our waitress was also top notch. She was attentive, timely, and always there checking on us to make sure we had full drinks and everything we needed. She was also really funny, joining us with some humorous bantor. The drinks we ordered were really good. These included the espresso martini, house margarita, and moscow mule. We started with a calamari appetizer which was fantastic. For dinner, two of us ordered a burger, one has a corned beef sandwich, and last there was a chicken club. Overall, everyone really likes their food. The one problem we had was half of my burger had so much grease that half of the bottom bun was soaked and mushy. I cut the burger in half and ate the part that didn’t have a mushy bottom bun. I’m sure I could have asked for a new bottom bun but I didn’t have that big of an appetite so I let it go.
