I knew I was going to enjoy this restaurant from the moment I walked in. Old school atmosphere, like an old time dinner club. We started with shrimp scampi and calamari for an appetizer and they were both delicious. For my main course I decided on scallop and shrimp Wellington which I was a little nervous to try. So glad I chose it. It was buttery, flaky and flavorful! Our server did a great job making sure our drinks stayed full and we had everything we wanted! Next time I want to come a little early to enjoy a drink on the bar side of the restaurant where there was live entertainment. Can’t wait to dine here again!

I surprised my mom and her husband for her birthday and called Dover Straits in Mundelein, IL to see if I could pre-pay for their dinner as a surprise. I spoke with (I believe) the owner, who was so accommodating and kind! He took my mom’s name, a description, and my credit card info, and assured me everything would be taken care of.
When my mom and her husband arrived, he greeted them, asked their names, and even inquired if they were celebrating anything — my mom thought that was such a nice touch (and had no idea what was coming!). They enjoyed a wonderful dinner, dessert, and after-dinner drinks, and when they went to pay, the gentleman told them it was already taken care of.
They were completely surprised and so touched! They said the food was absolutely delicious — my mom loved her soft-shell crabs, Richard had a perfectly cooked steak, and they both raved about the desserts.
Thank you so much, Dover Straits, for going above and beyond to make their night so special!

what a find! We were in town for a family event and staying at a hotel in the area. We were headed out to dinner to a different restaurant when we did a U-turn into Dover Straits. We were so glad we did. The menu was unbelievable, Our waiter was fantastic and The food was absolutely delicious. next time we’re in the area, we will be back.

We had a family dinner there last Sunday night. They were 10 of us. The food and service were absolutely wonderful, which can be challenging with a group that size. Everything was delicious – all the way from the appetizers (oysters were fabulous) to the dessert!! There’s a reason why they have been in business so long!

Really enjoyed our evening! We had a 6pm reservation and were promptly seated. Hosts were extremely kind and gracious….the service was a 10/10 all night.
Water was always filled, dirty plates promptly taken away, waitress was very attentive, and the food was delicious. Excellent quality and I would recommend to anyone. Keep up the great work as many restaurants these days do not offer the whole package in terms of good food and good service. They run a tight ship here and really look after you. We will return soon!

Went to this restaurant to celebrate birthday and had such a great time. They had live music and the band had everything dancing. Food was delicious and if you go have their Martini great selection. Will be making this place a regular place I will be coming back to . Highly recommend!!!!

So it was Christmas Eve, and Dover Straits must’ve had reservations galore! Ours were at 6:30 but we didnt get seated until 7:15 but the bar is the best and we had no trouble just hanging out there. Once we got seated Susie took care of us and we had the best meal. Highly recommend, will be back.

Dover’s did a tremendous job with the funeral luncheon we held for friends and family.
They were so accommodating and helpful as we had to plan the luncheon in a short span of time. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was amazing. Thank you for everything!
