First time at Doug’s Deli, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. I had the Reuben and he had the Cuban, and both were outstanding. By far some of the best quality meat and ingredients we’ve had in a sandwich in a very long time.

The flavors were solid, balanced, and incredibly satisfying not overdone, just done right. You can truly taste the care and quality in every bite.

This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be our last. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. If you’re a sandwich lover, this place is a must.

The gluten free bread is larger than most but still falls apart. The Ruben was delicious. The sauce is spicy which I liked but others may not.

Since I’ve had luck in the past with assembling my own sandwich they accommodated but it wasn’t necessary here.

Sad I didn’t find out about this place sooner. First time here I got the turkey blt, so so good.
Decided to get the southwest salad this time around – I was craving chili and a side salad, this seemed to satisfy my craving. It gave more nacho vibes than salad but still very good.
Can’t wait to come back and try more!
Service was great.

5/5 Stars: A Top-Notch Deli & Taproom in Historic Manassas

This place is a gem! My buddy Gary and I made the trip and were blown away. Doug’s Deli & Taproom is exactly what it claims to be: a fantastic, clean, well-lit deli that serves excellent craft beer. It genuinely feels like a quality deli first, with the taproom being a great bonus.

The atmosphere is perfect—it’s modern and current, comfortable and intimate. It’s built into a beautiful historic building (even registered on the National Register of Historic Places), with two levels and a cool upstairs loft area with tables and a second bar. We loved the unique decor, which includes posters of The Beatles and Van Halen, plus electric guitars and a snare drum mounted on the walls. Every detail, right down to the impeccably neat and organized coolers behind the main bar, shows the owner’s care. Even the round blue and white sign outside is stylish and photo-worthy.

The Food and Service:
I ended up trying the Hot Pepper Italian sandwich and it was fantastic; Gary loved his Egg Salad sandwich. All sandwiches are served with chips and a pickle, which is a great touch. The young service staff was outstanding—professional, friendly, and engaging, and they made our visit fun.

The Commitment:
A huge shout-out to John, the owner (carrying on a family tradition named after his grandfather/great-grandfather “Doug”). They opened in 2020, and the fact that they are thriving and running such a solid business shows incredible commitment given the stresses of the COVID vortex on the food service industry. John clearly pours his effort into making this business viable and right.

Logistics:
The atmosphere is family-friendly and welcomes all ages (though you may see a younger set, older guys like us felt completely at home). There is ample, free 2-hour parking across the street (weekdays during business hours, but open outside of those hours).

We will absolutely be driving back to visit again! Highly recommend.

Large selection of tap beers, which I did not try. I ordered a to-go sandwich, the Mediterranean, which was healthy and full of flavor. The roll was perfect for this type of sandwich…the only way I can describe it is “nostalgic.”

Man I wanted to love dougs and i still want to. Service is good, friendly people. Beer selections is enjoyable. Drinks aside, I had to take off stars because of the food. Their soup of the day was chicken noodle, im down for some hearty chicken noodle. But it was from a can. I can even tell you which brand, progresso. I mean, comn, its your soup of the day. I was just so disappointed that I couldn’t enjoy the good parts of dougs. My rueben sandwich was 70% saukraut. Maybe it was an off day. The pickle spear was the best part. Hopefully the next visit will be better.

Quaint & restaurant with a bigger beer selection than food selection. There’s reasonable amount of seating inside and outside with a couple of steps to get up into the restaurant. I don’t believe the bathroom is handicap accessible, nor is there designated parking for just this establishment. Very friendly service. Maybe I will try one of their sandwiches the next visit.

I wish it was better for a local shop. I really enjoy supporting small local businesses. I’ll continue to try this place out and hope they improve, but the pick up order for two people was disappointing. Soup was in some paper container that really isn’t good for something like to-go soup. Part of it spilled out, you just sort of want a better container when you get something to go. The tomato soup itself was very disappointing, didn’t taste good, very watery-do not recommend. They forgot the chips that came with the sandwich. And it just personally annoys me that they charge an extra fee for the pickle which generally comes with a sandwich everywhere else. The sandwich was on par with a prepacked sandwich from a grocery deli counter.

The Italian sub was excellent. The Reuben was good, but I like more dressing on it so I’ll ask for that next time. The deli meat for each sandwich was a good amount, particularly on the Reuben. The chips are Utz, nothing fancy. The waitstaff were friendly and the kitchen was fast. We definitely will be back.

Loved this hidden little gem. Great place for a late night vibe or lunch fix. I got the Italian on Ciabatta bread. They removed the cheese and butter since I have allergies. I got a coffee beer that was out of this world. My BF got a beef chili dog, and he enjoyed it. All the sandwiches come with chips and a pickle. Chips were okay. Enjoy the artwork on the walls. They have upstairs seating as well. Bartender was nice and fun to chat with. They have local beers and some good wine selections. Will be back.
