We saw that the locals were eating there and we stopped in. We started with some stuffed peppers, which were awesome. We ordered ribeyes that were cooked perfectly. All of our sides were perfect, I recommend the fried okra. Our server was a young man who was lightning fast. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the local Tirrito Farm brews. After a hike at Chiricahua NM this slapped hard. Thank you!

We were on a trip across AZ to visit family and needed to stop for the night and wanted to grab dinner somewhere. It is always hard when you are in a town you have never been to know where to go but we picked Double S and from the moment we walked in and they put a mason jar with my tea in it, to the last morsel on our plates, we were not disappointed! Tristan our waiter was AWESOME! And we loved that it was a family run restaurant! Made it even better. If we are ever back in Willcox we will definitely make Double S one of our stops!

The staff was very nice and attentive. The food was a little too salty, I’m sure some people like it like that but not my personal preference. The Brussels sprouts were creative, sauteed with onions and nuts in a broth; a unique side dish which was nice. The pricing is a little bit expensive for the product and atmosphere.

Don’t waste your money. The steak was overcooked, the green beans were old canned (mixed w new canned), and sterile atmosphere. Servers very nice. I was not offered any accommodation other than switching out of my vegetable when I noted my concerns. Nice staff.

Service excellent, food not so much. The place was packed when we arrived which I thought was a good sign that we were about to eat something delicious. The locals must know something I don’t. I order loaded fries and my friend ordered the bean burger. Both of us were sorely disappointed. The waiter was so nice. He knew I was really hungry but unable to get over the dog slop on my plate so he offered to have the kitchen cook me a plain chicken breast with some fries. How can you screw that up? Well…they did. Fries were under cooked and soggy, and the chicken overcooked and dry. Everything had a weird flavor. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe stick to the steaks and you’ll have better luck. There’s not many places to eat in town.

We were visiting the area from Chicago to hike the mountains and had dinner here with the family. First impressions when walking in the restaurant was very bright and not super comfortable. They could do with some candles on the table and dimmable overhead lighting. Aside from that the service was great and the food was delicious! I had the ribs which were some of the best I’ve ever eaten! The side of mashed potatoes and gravy were very good too! We would def come back to eat here!

WARNING!!!… If you value your gut health & digestive system read this, it’s a little long but worth it….My wife & I stopped here on our way home from anniversary vacation to have dinner & take a break from the road. On the surface & initial look of the restaurant looks good however the waitress which was very polite & courteous seated us next to bathrooms so I could see into kitchen area. Needless to say that’s when I noticed so cleanliness issues as well as the smell of old food or a dirty grease trap, then when the waitress brought out our order I noticed a few more things. During eating our meals I noticed my wife haven’t really ate much of her baked potato & the butter she put on it didn’t melt so I thought maybe it was cold which it was but that’s not all. Things I noticed with my meal (chicken fried steak) was the green beans were also days old & the chicken fried steak tasted like it was fried in old oil. After we paid the bill & left talking with my wife I asked her about the food & baked potato she replied that it was cold, tasted funny as well as having tiny black spots like course pepper (turned out to be mold later learned through Google search) even though she didn’t put any pepper on it. I told her about the condition of my food & we both figured being a Tuesday evening the side dishes & baked potato were probably leftovers from the weekend that didn’t sell. The reasons we didn’t complain were the waitress was very polite, courteous, helpful and we tired & hungry from our drive. Later after we arrived home (3 1/2hrs) we had just climbed into bed when my wife complained of stomach pains & bloating which caused her to jump up & run to the restroom. This happened to her several times during the nite but with the help of heating pad & some Pepto she was able to get rest. Myself on the other hand didn’t sleep well due to burping up old greasy food & some heartburn to top it off. I understand that times are tough & things are expensive so it’s hard on small privately owned restaurants but this place is supposed to be one of Wilcox’s better restaurants & a steakhouse that sells $43.99 ribeye steaks, which thankfully we decided not to order due to the conditions we noticed. I have to say beware of this restaurant as it is a walking health violation & I will be sure to let people we know that travel through that area so they don’t have the same experience as we had, have eaten at plenty of small restaurants in small towns that looked sketchy but this place was the worst. It’s your decision at the end of day literally however like I said if you value your digestive health I wouldn’t choose this restaurant what a shame….

I had such high hopes for this place. It was decorated very nice and looked updated. However, the food was mediocre at best. The brisket burger was so salty, I thought I was going to have a heart attack before I could finish it! No joke. The ranch dipping sauce was so watered down that it would run off my food as soon as I pulled my food out of the ranch. There was a hair in the chicken bacon wrap. There was plenty of staff walking around, yet somehow the service was super slow. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place.

Another gem we found. We rode to a small town, Wilcox, Az. Stopped at Double S. Now when ya get here don’t go all big city. We were met by a cheerful lady and engaged in a great conversation. She sat us at our table and was always there at the right time. Always smiling and making me feel I came to her house, not establishment. We order Texas Twinkies and thought, dear Lord, that is a meal in itself. Then our food came and it was amazing. My only problem was the fries. They needed to be cooked longer, but that was it.
We will definitely be coming back. Thank you, Double S, for a wonderful afternoon. Your staff is awesome!!!!!!
