Let’s start with the pros: the place is very charming and was decorated perfectly for Christmas…very cozy! We were seated right away with a little bucket of fresh popcorn and all of our drinks came in large mason jars. We ordered the pulled pork nachos and the fried pickles, both were delicious!
The service was good.
Cons: I honestly wish I would’ve finished the nachos and skipped ordering an entree. It’s a smokehouse, so I was excited to order a half rack of ribs, unfortunately they were terrible, very dry and grisly, even the variety of sauces couldn’t help them. I had a side salad that was boring and the sweet potato fries were soggy and tasteless. My husband had the sampler platter with brisket, ribs and pork. He said the pork was good, brisket was okay and ribs were not edible.
Others at the table had a burger and sandwiches and seemed happy with their food.
They automatically added 25% tip to the check.
I would go back for the nachos and charm, but I’d pass on the rest of the menu.
The drinks were literally amazing. Strong and delicious. I had the drunken pumpkin spiced latte and tried a couple others and they were all delicious and strong. The food was also delicious.
Highly recommend this place. I live an hour away and I’d come back just for this place lol
Well…. they’re back!
Stopped in last night after finding Pennings so busy they could not spare a moment to seat us at one of the several open tables and very glad we did.
Awesome decor and great country tunes, just like before.
Service by Laura was cheerful and professional, accomodations for Friday Lent preferences offered without batting an eye.
The bacon brussels sprouts were terrific, with a portion size so generous for two that I’ll be enjoying some at home for lunch today.
We chose a Caesar salad and a brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese and slaw sides. Portions are generous for sure. Everything was great, even the Cole slaw, which some places will just order by the 5 gallon bucket and serve endless scoops out of, was freshly made and a real treat.
I took 1/2 of my brisket sandwich home as well.
So glad we stopped in again. So glad they are firing on all cylinders again.
Give it a try!
The pulled pork Reuben sandwich was pretty good and the pulled pork egg rolls were interesting as well.
In terms of ribs and brisket, we felt like they were on the dryer side. Notably they have 4 different types of sauces you could dip your meat in which was interesting for sure.
We got a variety of sides:
– corn bread felt mushy
– cream corn (forget the exact name) tasted very creamy, it was milkshake like
– coleslaw was ok
– beans were interesting (probably the best side)
– mac and cheese and onion rings were very average.
So first of all I’m an excellent bbq grill person and take great pride in my ribs. I was expecting a vert solid bbq experience… The food arrives and at first glance the ribs looked Dry and the pulled pork looked tender and juicy. So we tasted the ribs and they were dry and very smoky, but not a good smoky. It was a cold smoke with a bitter after taste. We could not get past 2 ribs. The pulled pork was better but not worth a mention. The kids only ate half of their burgers. We left hungry and annoyed. The place has great potential and with some guidance could be an outstanding spot. I don’t usually miss on my selection of places to take my family (of 5) out for food. However this place has missed its mark. Total cost $298.00 with 18% tip.
