We always stopped at the Double S diner after cutting our Christmas tree down. Too bad it is gone. So we decided to finally try the Smokehouse. Food was very good. One burger was a bit undercooked. 1 out of 5 burgers we had. But the atmosphere and staff are great. Loved the large Mason jars for drinks. Server was very attentive and prompt. We had the smoked wings, Smokehouse burgers, Boss Hog burger, Mac attack burger and the BBQ burger. All very tasty and large portions. No one finished. Wife and kids loved the hot chocolate.

There are not many BBQ places in NW Jersey, but Double S is one of the better. The location is a little different for a sit-down restaurant, but neat none the less. Situated in the basball stadium, it’s easy to get to and has a ton of parking most days. We went on a Friday night, and they had a guitar player singing 70’s and 80’s tunes. We had a giant pretzel for an appetizer that was quite tasty. The mustard dip thst came with it complimented the salty pretzel I had pulled pork while my son had ribs and my wife had a salad. The pirk was moist and was smoked. I would suggest it if pork is in your diet. The ribs were excellent, not a babyback, but a bigger rib. I liked the 4 BBQ sauces on the table. It gave you the opportunity to try different ones or mix them together. We will be coming back in the future.

I have come to this restaurant multiple times with the hope that maybe next time will be better. But after trying so many times today was the last time I will be trying. The “Burgers” if you can call those burgers are not even at a school level. For $19 you can do much better just going to Wendy’s or the WaWa around the corner. I guess you get what you pay for!! On this last visit to the Double S Smokehouse the service was horrendous that I even ask to talk to the owner. He came out and said that everything was the way it’s supposed to be. I guess so much for high standards nowadays huh!! We ended up paying $97 for a meal that we did not eat. The owner also told me that next time that come back he will ” hooked me up” I really don’t know what kind of language he was talking. Do yourself a favor and read some of the honest reviews on here and make your decision wisely on this place. I know for sure I will not be trying no more truly disappointed.

The place has a very comfortable, nostalgic country feel. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The plain Burger, ( no picture sorry) The Smokehouse Cheese Burger ( brisket, pulled pork, cheddar cheese, cole slaw, and an onion ring) and the Cowboy Cheese Steak (brisket, cheddar cheese, mac n cheese on a sour dough roll) I didn’t eat. However I was told they were delicious. No one’s plate had anything left on it.
As for me, I had the Brisket entree. With a side of garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens w bacon tips, and a piece of cornbread. Also, I requested a side of gravy. It was great. Of exceptional note, was the smoked brisket. The smoke flavor was strong and rich but didn’t over power the flavor of the cut of meat. This brisket was tender and extremely juicy!!! Not dry and withered as with many smoked meats I haven’t enjoyed in the past. From other restaurants offering smoked meats on the menu.
That brisket carried this would be a possible 4 star rating way above a five star review. YES!! IT WAS THAT GOOD!!!

Yes ! Another Sussex Miners game with a nice pre-game lunch. We have heard about Double S smokehouse both in Warwick NY and now here at the stadium.
What an enjoyable atmosphere nods to the local rural area that we live in. Nice to see some props to thw bombers, but it would have been nice to see something for the Mets fans, and dare I say the Brooklyn Dodgers.
We ordered the onion rings and I had to try the wings. I also tried the sampler platter and the portion was a well balanced size.
The food across the board was excellent, smoked to perfection, and seasoned to get to that spot that you want when have smoked meats.
Two down sides, as a bleu cheese fan, this sauce was less than stellar – avoid it next time. The wings stand on their own for dry smoked and there are other sauces available, if you want to dip.
Second, and this is tough when you live in a rural area in summer, a bit of a fly problem up at the bar area…. nothing egregious but know that they are there in the summer.
We live closer to the Warwick location and will be checking that spot out as well. Stay tuned.
A nice experience at a great ball field and worth it to stop over the fall and winter as well.

Service was really slow, we waited an hour for our food at around 4pm (not usually a particularly busy time of day) the food was ok but for the prices it was rather expensive and there was an egregious amount of vinegar (see the last pic for how much vinegar was in my bowl of collards). My partner’s hot chicken sandwich tasted primarily of vinegar and the majority of their sauces were vinegar based as well. The brisket was fine but the rest of the experience just made it overwhelmingly average with above average pricing.

Great gluten free options clearly marked on the menu. Staff was friendly. Not too crowded with both indoor and outdoor seating. Waitress did mention they’re moving locations soon, but that the new location is close by. Highly recommend!

Placed an order for pickup. $60 for one entree, a side salad with old lettuce and no toppings, and a small dessert is crazy. The salad looked like it came straight from a bag & I did ask for the toppings. The bbq sampler was okay. The girl who rang me up was very nice. Prob will go just for a drink and dessert but nothing more.

Great BBQ spot ! Great decor and great BBQ , corn bread was awesome. At the table are 4 styles of sauce to top off the food, and the bar area looks rustic and relaxed. Will definitely come back !

“Edit: bumped to two stars. They are very nice, and it was a surge. Still not much of an excuse for meals you just have to plate.”
I’m so torn about how to review this place. Nice people, cool atmosphere, good food,… but we had a 5:30 reservation and our 7:00 tour time came up and we still had t gotten our food. I mean, it’s not like they make everything from scratch. I understand the surge flow and all, but I’d suggest allowing at least 2 hours. We had to box ours to go.
