Dos Salsas knows how to make great tex-mex. Growing up in Georgetown, they were amazing.
Living in north Austin, the new location was top notch.
This Cedar Park location though…what’s going on the kitchen?
Atmosphere is great, service is great, but food does not meet the high quality and full flavor of the other 2 locations.
We got the Stuff Jalapeños for an app. They were super mid, cheese was cheesy but tasted fake.
Tortilla soup was like broth with no salt, it was literally large shreds of chicken in chicken water with “tortilla strips” that were the size of a half dollar?
My wife got the shrimp taco salad, she just said “gross”, shrimp was bland.
I got the fried fish, also just plain boring, 3 filets, a huge amount of tarter sauce, but it wasn’t any better than a microwaved frish from Sams Club.
This us our 2nd time here and we’ve lived here for 4 years. We were reminded why we choose other spots instead of this one. Although the atmosphere is fun and the staff is attentive and friendly, the main thing, the food, is just plain boring.
Our waitress, though newer, handled our table with professionalism, composure, and kindness. She represented the restaurant well and did everything she could to ensure we were taken care of.
Unfortunately, the manager on duty significantly detracted from the experience. His approach to addressing the group size was unnecessarily confrontational, and we later observed him speaking to our server in a manner that was unprofessional and inappropriate. It was uncomfortable to witness and reflected poorly on leadership.
Strong restaurants are built not only on good food and service, but on how leadership treats both guests and staff. The serving team deserves recognition. The management approach we witnessed does not.
The staff is always friendly and attentive. It always makes me want to be a generous tipper.
The menu is impressively large, offering a wide range of Tex-Mex classics—from sizzling fajitas and enchiladas to crispy tacos and hearty stuffed chicken dishes. One of the highlights is their variety of margaritas, especially the jalapeño and El Don options, which pack a punch and are crowd favorites. Portions are generous, and the flavors are bold—some may find the seasoning a bit on the salty side, but overall, the food is flavorful and filling.
Service can vary depending on the time of day, with some guests noting delays during peak hours, but most staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable, and the overall experience offers great value.
If you’re in the mood for vibrant Tex-Mex fare with strong drinks and hearty plates, Dos Salsas won’t disappoint.
The chips and salsa came out as soon as we sat down. There were two types of salsas, a thick and chucky red salsa and a thin and watery green salsa. We preferred the red salsa, and it had good flavor and a nice spice to it. My wife actually preferred to mix the two salsas together! For our meals, I got the Burrito with Fajita Beef, and my wife got the El Gordito Tex-Mex Combo, that came with two cheese enchiladas and a beef taco. She added chicken to her enchiladas. Overall, the food was okay. I liked my plate more than my wife liked hers. There wasn’t anything wrong with the food, it just didn’t blow us away. We both liked the Mexican rice, and I really liked the beans that came with her combo. Based on Rico’s recommendation, we plan on trying the fajitas when we come back.
Dos Salsas is a solid choice when it comes to Tex-Mex food in Cedar Park. From the reviews, they clearly have a lot of fans, and the place is always busy. We will definitely go again when we are in the area. I recommend that you give Dos Salsas a try.
