Walked in with my family of 8 + 1 year old and we were seated immediately at 10am. It did not look very busy but our waitress took a while to take our order, almost 15 minutes. The prices were very cheap but there was a variety of options for breakfast. 30 minutes after ordering, our food finally arrived. All dishes ordered were delicious and generous portion size for the price paid. The bacon was delicious and definitely a highlight of the meal. We paid at the front at the General Store once we were done. I have heard it is an Italian place for dinner which is highly rated. I would go back for the price and taste but maybe a rush went through and that is why it took a while to order.

I like this little restaurant (the restaurant is actually called La Pasta, but is connected to the Dorset General Store). We go here once a year on an annual vacation in the Park Rapids area. And we always stop here for breakfast.
Their menu isn’t large, but it’s for breakfast. I don’t expect anything major. The staff are friendly, and the service is prompt. (They do have a lunch/dinner menu, but I’ve only been there for lunch.)
The restaurant is deceptively larger than it looks from the outside, although none of the four dining areas is exceptionally big. If you have a larger party, I’d highly recommend making a reservation. In fact, if it’s a weekend, you might want to call about a reservation for even a small party if they’ll accept one.
As for the food, it is always well prepared. The eggs are done well, and while I often get French toast for breakfast, this time I opted for an omelette. It was excellent, with lots of cheese and ham to make it especially filling.
When you’re done, you pay next door in the general store. They have some basic food items standard Minnesota gifts.
I’d recommend this restaurant among the many options that exist in the town of Dorset!

We stopped in for a late breakfast. The ham and cheese omlet with hash browns and toast were fantastic. The hash browns were crispy, the ham and cheese omlet had plenty of ham and cheese and was topped with cheese. Gypsy had biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was homemade and the gravy had sausage in it. We will definitely return when we are in the area.

Must have a new cook that doesn’t know what seasonings are for. We have eaten here before and enjoyed the food, unfortunately that was not the case for our visit yesterday. There were 4 of us, each having a different Italian meal and every single one of us had the same complaint – the food had no flavor! If we had been blindfolded, we couldn’t have said what we were eating. The salad had lettuce in that had turned brown we had to pick out. Only thing that earned the 2 stars were the bread sticks – they actually had some flavor and good texture. Brought more food home than what we ate at the restaurant so we could add some seasoning, paid too much to not try and make it taste good enough to eat.

La Pasta is connected to the Dorset General Store. La Pasta is one of the best places around! Amazing food and service. You need to go for breakfast too! Dorset pockets are a must!

would you like your spaghetti plated with bare hands and no utensils???? we were a table of 6 and were seated by the back by the kitchen entry. we saw a guy with bushy hair and no hair net adding things to the salads with his bare hands. we kind of shrugged it off. then we saw him playing pasta with bare hands. no utensils. just grabbing spaghetti and plating it. we told the server after we paid the bill and she said she would tell the owner. i called the owner and she was very rude and dismissive. she stated that they would take it under advisement because they wash their hands regularly. i told her it was not ok to plate food with your bare hands. she said they would take it under advisement. it was disgusting health practices and over priced mediocre food. will never go back.

Dorset was teeming with people at three o’clock yesterday afternoon (Sunday, before Memorial Day). I have never been to La Pasta before and was looking forward to trying out the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, they seem to only be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and no time in between. Disappointed, our group of four and many others all went and enjoyed a midday meal at Companeros.
Your loss and mine, La Pasta. Memorial Day weekend and you are always open! Sheesh!
