I asked if he’d rather have a couple kegs of beer or something from the Don Luis Bakery, and he said he’s got plenty of kegs so bring some muffins! And….That’s exactly what I brought, and man were they delicious! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
Late one night the door was wide open with no “closed” sign, so I walked in like any normal person would. A tall young guy in the back was washing dishes, stops, walks up, takes out one AirPod, and goes: “So you still walked in after seeing the folded mat…?”
I told him the door was open so I assumed they were still open, and I apologized. He literally turns around mid-sentence and ignores me for the rest of the time I’m there.. even when I’m politely asking normal questions like what time they usually close.
I get having a rough shift. But making customers feel stupid for walking into an open business, then intentionally stonewalling them, is not it. It completely kills the vibe and makes you not want to come back.
Also: the owner very obviously copy pastes ChatGPT responses to low reviews, they even accidentally left part of an AI prompt in one before.
I don’t want an AI reply. I want basic human courtesy, in the store and online. Which sucks, because the bread is genuinely great.
Anyway, pro tip: if the front mat is even slightly folded, apparently that means “closed.”
