Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in Homer. I Highly recommend this place enough to anyone visiting Homer. The food? Absolutely delicious , 10/10 no doubt. And we’re loving the vibes here. Massive shoutout to our server, Chala, for going above and beyond in ensuring we got exactly what we wanted . My husband couldn’t be happier with his birthday dinner . Totally in love with this place ❤️will visit again❤️

Fresh and authentic!
We appreciate the authentic and fresh food. We always get at Don Jose’s. The bonus is the wonderful people who work there.
We have had many of the menu items and find the servings to be generous.
Ask for the special Yolandarita!!
This is an awesome family who has been in Homer for a very long time. Anyone who knows them will tell you they are the most generous, hard-working folks around.

Don Joses in Homer is our go to family spot. Friendly, amazing with our kiddo, the food is always good and the margaritas are yummy too. Forgot to take photos until halfway through it’s that yummy. Highly recommend!

It was good. Not very many mexican restaurants in Homer so it was a breath of fresh air having sit down mexican food after moving here from California.

Don Jose’s in Homer invariably serves up tasty food in a colorful and clean space where you can just about always get a seat. Consistency is one of Don Jose’s best traits, as my favorite tortilla soup and enchiladas are always delicious, Yolanda and the rest of the staff are always attentive and delightful, and they are open on busy days in the summer or during blizzards in the winter when other restaurants are closed. Don Jose’s is an easy spot to recommend to tourists and is a go-to for locals. My very favorite thing about Don Jose’s is their commitment to our community. Fundraisers, birthdays, graduations, family gatherings… Don Jose’s is an easy choice. I will never forget the staff donating a percentage of proceeds for a weekend to my dear friend’s young son upon her passing last year. Thank you all so much for that again. Don Jose’s is more than an easy weeknight choice for locals or a fun taste of Mexico in Homer for tourists, it really is a pillar of our little Cosmic Hamlet in Homer!…. And the enchiladas are GREAT!

Came for a quick drink with a friend, ended up eating dinner, Marsela and Yolanda waited on us. I had Baja tacos and my friend had chili Colorado. The food was great, service was excellent! Very friendly atmosphere and made us feel welcome .

In far out Alaska, Don Jose serves food that is Mexican-like. The flavors and ingredients are like adjusted to local muted tastes. Still, most dishes will remind you of Mexican food. We ordered guacamole made at the table but got a not very tasty goop with some chips (do not order, make do with the free salsa – ask for the spicy one, it is not spicy).
In entrees we had the spinach enchiladas (definitely avoid), chicken enchiladas, crab and shrimp rice, and fish tacos (all three ok).
Service was slow and not great, perhaps due to staff shortage from the pandemic. We also had a long wait standing outside, with no one updating us.

I really enjoyed my meal and the dessert! I have lived here 2 years and finally got to eat in and the price was good to top it off. Atmosphere for a Friday night was nice also with very vibrant and upbeat decor as I like my Mexican restaurants. Glad I got to eat there before the summer rush crowds.
