Finally… made it to Dogwood. It is nestled in the corner of Riverview shopping mall. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it!
I walked in and Samantha, behind the bar, made us feel right at home. I knew she was going to be amazing after watching her with other customers.. She cares, helps them even with personal stuff, and looks out for them. You can tell there are regulars, they love the people and the restaurant. I love that vibe!
I knew it wanted to try several things so I only orders appetizers. We got Chorizo (not tradional, more like a sausage) which came with fries, Provoletta and Log Jammers. She was right… the Log Jammers are addictive, but being a cheese person, my fav was the Provellta – so fabulously cheesy. The sausage was very good as well. My only swith up on things qould be the sauces… which you can do. The 3 mustard sauce comes with .the Log Jammers – pare that with the sausage. The herb vinegar that come with the Log Jammers, pares best with the Provella. And last, but not least… pare the Boom Boom sauce with the Log Jammers. Fabulous!
We also got Ribs and mac and cheese. The full rack was huge and had ao much meat. The rub on it was delicious and I’d recommend the spicy bbq sauce which pares well with the rub. The slaw is NOT to mayonnaisey but is sweet. The Mac and Cheese seems to be on the homemade side – creamy but not like it’s all processed cheese – more real cheese. Then it’s baked with a nice layer on top.
We had a great experience and even though I don’t usually go to a restaurant more than once, I will be back. The food was great and the people and friendly atmosphere made it so much more.

Excellent place to eat! I’ve eaten at the Washington-Duke and Croasdaile Country Club and neither of these places offer any better meals than the Dogwood Bar and Grill. My wife and I ate and enjoyed our meals for less than $40 total for both of us. My pork medallions, mashed potatoes, and green beans were delicious and cooked perfectly. My wife’s po boy Shrimp sandwich was the best she ever had. Our friends also enjoyed a large serving of house nachos. I look forward to returning and trying other scrumptious dishes on their menu.

We thought this places was closed but recently we saw their open signs!! It was a bit slow at first but then the regulars flocked in!
This place is a hidden gem in N Durham! It’s the closest grill and bar to us and what makes it even better is the staff! From the server to manager to the kitchen, this place has it all!!
Go see them and keep them open. Maybe if we all ask they’ll open up earlier!!!
They said they sometimes have karaoke. We will be back especially for football season. There are plenty of TVs and nice bar area!
They also have a banquet room for a nice size party! It’s right next to Harris Teeter! Go give them a visit!

We were not sure if they were open, but once inside we were warmly greeted, quickly seated, and soon chewing on delicious tender pulled pork dinners. The Mac and cheese side was creamy the key lime pie was good as well. Not too sweet like some places make it. Great spot to grab a casual bite.

3/14/25 dinner: another wonderful meal with friends! Salmon, shrimp po’boy and chicken meals. All delicious! The atmosphere is relaxing; our server was attentive and friendly! This is a neighborhood gem!

ive been coming for about a couple months now off and on and i wanted to give a big shout out and kudos to Eric, Alondra, Sadie and Samantha for amazing well rounded service!! they are a fun group to be around and they work hard and it shows..great food! great service! may become a regular there! thanks for making Dogwood Bar and Grille what it is!!

Gem of a place. Most of the food is outstanding, especially the salmon and the green beans. The green beans are a must!! Fell bar. It’s hidden in an inside of corner and looks closed even when it’s open. Hours are…at this time…like 330-8pm, check before going.

It’s So Nice to have a cozy dinner at the Dogwood. As long-term residents of North Durham, we are thrilled there is a restaurant like this just down the street. It’s become our second kitchen for any evening we don’t want to cook, and as our gathering place for a spontaneous evening with friends. No reservations needed, which is a refreshing change in Durham.

I had an exhausting day at work and just wanted a quiet meal and drink. There was hardly anybody there except at the bar. So I thought, perfect. Except when a woman leaving the bar threw up in front of the door. And NOBODY jumped up to clean it. I was finished and wanted to go home and I had to step around the vomit to use the door! Good food, terrible customer service.

Placed an order for pickup. The young lady I spoke week was the definition of excellent customer service, which is so hard to find lately. This was always my first full order (I have had the mac-n-cheese before). I got the whole rack of ribs with the Moonshine sauce, mashed potatoes & baked beans. This was the BEST meal! The ribs were literally falling off the bone, I probably went through a half of a roll of paper towels. I expected to get two meals out of it and did with the sides, but I STILL had enough ribs left over for a third meal! And each meal was just as good, if not better, than the first. I HIGHLY recommend the Dogwood Grill to anyone that wants an incredible meal, with incredible customer service and with truly reasonable prices! We will definitely be ordering from here again and can’t wait to order what we are able too. There are items that we’d love to try, that we won’t be able to, as the do have shellfish that the cook in the same place/oil. But knowing that, makes it safe for me & my daughter to know what we can eat from there.
