First time dining in, I know the pastries are awesome! Good experience even though I didn’t expect one, being as we (family) showed up 20min till close on a Saturday.

We were a bit confused as to seating since there is no real indication to seat yourself or wait, we just went and sat down. The staff was friendly and accommodating, we did not feel rushed.
I left room for another star in case I start to frequent this place which I’d like, so I can try more of the menu.

We have driven by Dobo’s many times, today is the first time we stopped and had a delicious breakfast. Coffee was good, loved my Eggs Benedict.
The staff were very friendly, we look forward to our next visit.
When paying our bill they have bags of fresh baked Donut holes I had to purchase.
Dobo’s donut holes are the BEST I have ever tasted❗

Quiet atmosphere, a real home feel, and fantastic service! Breakfast is as close to home as your gonna get and the food is phenomenal! The Bakery has homemade pies, donuts, and desserts as well as other things like popcorn, maple syrup, and fresh rolls! I highly recommend stopping in for the food and pick up some pies as well!

Overall, I/we like the place – food, service, prices.

However …

They never cease to amaze us that they are able to stay in business, considering how often we go there only to find they are closed on what would be a normal business day for them.
It’s probably just uncanny coincidence, but we have just about given up on them as our first choice for a breakfast out because we simply can’t rely on them to be open.

Original rating (with above review) was 3 stars – might have even been 4+ for the pastries and bread.

But now, we have to drop the rating to 1 star. We will *never* come here for breakfast again.

4 weeks after posting the above review, we show up only to find they are closed for the weekend for “a family wedding”. Congratulations to the happy couple and the rest of the family – and we get it, this is a family restaurant. But hire someone besides family to run the place when you can’t be (or just don’t feel like being) there.

Clearly they don’t rely on us to stay open – we can hardly ever give them our business. Of the 12-15 Saturdays we’ve tried to come here over the past year and a half, they’ve been closed on 8-10 of those occasions. Maybe when I retire I’ll have time to see if we might have better luck on a weekday – until then, we’re done. Our recommendation is that you call before you get in the car to confirm that they will be open. We’ll just go somewhere else (“Peg’s” is just down the street I guess) or do like we do on most weekends – enjoy the same food made at home.

UPDATE 21 JULY 2017:
Keep in mind that I order during lunch hours and when I’m starving.

The waffle fries are so much better than the regular fries they give you. I had the shrimp dinner today with green bean, onions, beef, and bacon soup. The combination of these items allowed me to eat them without drinking anything. I had a really good time eating this food. They have done a really good job with this meal and it was hot when I picked it up.

Previous stars == 4

Ordered deluxe chicken with fries and chili twice (two different days).

I highly recommend that if you’re Southern like me that you order a hamburger pattie and have them chop it up and put it in your chili… Otherwise your chili will taste very soupy. Everything else they made I give 5 stars. If you want spicy chili, bring your own spicy stuff. The chili is very salty, but good.

I will go back for more.

Ate breakfast here with my folks. Some of the best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, and I usually make my homemade pancakes from scratch, these were great! Also had sausage and eggs, both done exactly to order. I’ve bought baked goods here several times and they’re always excellent. Friendly staff too!

I love their food and the Dobo’s are simply amazing people. Although as most with kids in school, and the construction company, it is a family run business yes. But the family recipes are simply amazing not to say no. So yes if you live a ways a way maybe should call. Especially in August as they typically cater to the church camp that is held in Irene, South Dakota. But other than that great place for food any day they are there.

What a restaurant and bakery. I have been having a hankering for the ooey gooey caramel rolls ever since they shut down due to COVID-19. Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Very small town feel. I miss it so much. From a recovering Doboholic.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning with about six other people. We ordered a variety of breakfast dishes, and all were just right. The baked goods are also really good and fresh. It was a pleasantly busy place; it is evident Dobo’s has a good reputation.
