Food was excellently plated, served and cooked, but some of it should have been warmer. Buffett was greatly priced. Ambiance was over the top. Please do not change it to much as it still has that wonderfully comfortable feel to it. Keep up the great work , but please pay more attention to temp on Buffett food.

It has been YEARS since I had eaten at the Dixie Restaurant in McClean, Illinois! We decided to stop in when we passed along I-55 and the food is as good as I remember! The service was top-notch and the prices are on par with restaurants of this style. Do like me and save room for pie; I am happy I did!!

I got yelled at by the waitress as she stuck her finger half an inch from my food, with her hand over the center of my plate. I thought she was going to stick her finger in it! She said to me, (meaning she screeched at me), that what I put on my plate wasn’t part of the salad bar. Her reaction made me think she was going to bodyslam me on the table. She was very angry. She said the salad bar was included with my steak dinner. So I grabbed green beans and mushrooms. It’s one salad bar. It’s not seperated. She never mentioned I could only grab certain Items. I offered to pay extra for the items I got.
I ordered the ribeye steak dinner, with my steak medium rare. As you can see it was raw. And that is only an outside edge peice. The entire inside of the steak was raw. The menu states that the steak is charbroiled. I thought that sounded great! Apparently they don’t understand what a charbroiled steak is. I understand that a ribeye is marbled with fat. This was just a fatty non-seared, undercooked steak. The pictures are of it in my airfryer before I finished cooking it myself. BTW the mashed potatoes tasted great, and the rest of the staff seemed very nice.

Food was excellent at the buffet . Fresh, delicious, tasty homestyle cooked goodness is what you get each time you go back for another plate. Fall off the bone ribs (literally), cheesy mac (not once dry and pasty), mashed taters with creamy country gravy (not thick and clumpy “gravy” btw), NOT DRY baked chicken AND fried chicken !!! Even the fried fish (walleye) was the right balance of fried crispness outside to moist tenderness inside. Other sides of rice, fresh rolls, homemade potatoe chips, popcorn shrimp, corn and more. Believe me you will go back for seconds once you’ve tasted any of the savory selections they have . The cooks/chefs definitely know what they’re doing in that kitchen. The wait staff were very nice and attentiveness was excellent . Not just the person attending to me, but all of them out on the floor were very courteous. I’m not a local but was still treated with the same hospitality. Very much appreciated . I am Definitely recommending this place to everyone. Trucker friendly as well. I’m just letting y’all know that you should bypass ALL them fast food places and stop by when you’re around here.

Well I do believe they got my $20 for the first and last time. I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and an extra mac and cheese. The meatloaf was horrible. It was pressed back together after being run through a blender or something. It was more like a meat patty. The sauce they put on top of it was terrible, as well. Yes I knew it was going to be sweet but it was extremely sweet. The mac and cheese was something else, I’m not even sure what to say about it. The noodles were so overcooked that they were mush and I’m pretty sure they just added yellow food coloring to the water that they cook the noodles in because it did not taste like cheese. I also got a piece of banana cream pie and the picture is the part that I’m throwing away. It is unedible as well. Now the waitress that took my order and my 20 bucks, she could not have been nicer. I got my food to go and I ate in the truck. So I cannot comment on the atmosphere.

The sign really has a good aura to it. The chicken had some hair here and there, some bugs and whatnot, but that just adds protein. Really, the best thing about this place is the special sauce the guy in the alleyway gives you. It had a really unique texture and was surprisingly warm. Great place to go with your kids, 10/10.

Great place to have lunch with family. The lunch buffet is a good choice to have because it has a wide variety of entrees to choose from. You also have many sides, salads, soups, breads, and desserts included. Every item is fresh and full of flavor. When we went the buffet had pot roast, turkey, BBQ Ribs, brisket, fried fish, chili, tomato bisque soup, corn, carrots, mashed potatoes, French fries, white rice, cherry pie, apple pie, cake, pudding, and alot of salads. The service was A+. Even though the restaurant had a full house, our server was on top of our table, refilling our beverages and picking up an extra plates on our table. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.
