We love taking our day trip to the yak for a good tasting lunch and some great people to visit. We have made our trips more often this year. Now finding out they sold the place. Good food and grate conversation. If you looking for an authentic western mountain kind experience, this is the place. It has that western tough guy kind of atmosphere. This place is for anybody that is laid a person, looking to eat a big burger and enjoy a few laughs. If you one of them picky Yankees that needs to pick things apart, stay far away and let the other people enjoy.

I really wish the experience was better. We arrived at 10:55. They open at 11:00 am. They allowed us to come in. They asked what we wanted to drink. We asked for coffee. We just came through the pass from Eureka and it was chilly. So they said 5 min. At 11:15 an older lady came and told us that it would be 15 more minutes. Really?? It takes 30 minutes to brew coffee? We left.

The drive from the Rexford side of the bridge over Kookanusa is pretty curvy and narrow, but super beautiful!(like a mini version of the going to the sun road) I recommend downloading a map of the route as we probably would have gotten lost if we hadn’t.there were not signs all the way. The dirty Shame is a fun stop to see. We had some burgers that were fine. The experience is really what we went for.
