Reviews
Mr. Srikanth, who took Order was very polite, friendly, and ensured the foods are served ant right intervals.
Noticed the cleaners who served the plate on the table initially, we are picking nose and rubbing hairs with bare hands and was not using gloves while serving plate. Informed it to Mr. Srikanth and he promptly addressed the concern with care and replaced plates.
Overall, it was a good experience, nice ambience, except the hygiene of the staff. Restrooms were clean.
Their mutton biriyani is my favorite.
Also their service is amazing, I recently ordered mutton biriyani for pickup but after coming home saw that it was chicken instead. I called them immediately and they were very helpful and offered to rectify the situation immediately which great customer experience.
I will 10/10 come here more often due to this nice gesture.
We ordered Pallipalayam Chicken (starter) and Mutton Biryani. The restaurant was crowded, so we waited patiently. The starter arrived 20–25 minutes later, which was fine, but the real problem started after that. The Pallipalayam chicken was literally cold, not even warm.
immediately informed the server. He said someone else would address it. When that person came, instead of apologizing, he started blaming us for their mistake. His first response was: “You already served it on your plates and started eating.”
How are customers supposed to know food is cold without tasting it?
He then argued with us for at least 5 minutes, repeatedly saying we had almost finished eating, which was completely false, our plates were still mostly full. We made it very clear that we were not asking for free food, only expecting hot food and basic hospitality.
He then arrogantly said they could remake it, but since they were busy it would take another 25 minutes, as if that justified serving cold food in the first place.
Because of this behavior, I immediately canceled the mutton biryani, went to the front desk, paid, and reported the incident. I asked for the name of the person who behaved rudely at our table, he said his name was Ram. Later at the front desk, we were told his actual name was Srikanth. Why lie? This was extremely unprofessional and disgusting.
We still paid for the starter, even though we barely ate it. I also posted a photo of the untouched food on our plates to clearly show that we were not trying to get free food, we wanted decent service and edible, hot food.
The irony is that after payment, they said they would process a refund, took our name and phone number, and said they would get back to us. At this point, given everything else, I honestly wonder if this is another lie.
We came as a family expecting a good meal and a good experience. Instead, we got cold food, rude attitude, dishonesty, and zero accountability. This place seriously needs to work on customer service, food quality, and honesty. Very disappointed.
What keeps us coming back
• Mutton Milagu Soup – Easily the best pepper mutton soup in town. The broth is bold and warming, packed with black-pepper heat that clears your sinuses in the most satisfying way, while the tender mutton pieces add just the right richness. It’s the perfect starter, especially on foggy South Bay evenings.
• Authentic Biryanis – The hallmark of Thalappakatti is its legendary biryani, and the Milpitas outpost lives up to the name. Each grain of short Seeraga Samba rice is fragrant and distinct, infused with whole spices and slow-cooked meat. Whether you order the classic chicken, goat, or their aromatic vegetarian version, the balance of spice and flavor is unmistakably Dhindigul style—no shortcuts, no excessive grease, just pure authenticity.
• Consistency & Service – Busy weekend dinners, but the kitchen’s quality control is impressive. Servers greet regulars with genuine warmth, happily explaining spice levels or customizing combos when we bring guests new to South Indian cuisine. Orders arrive hot and promptly, even at peak hours.
• Ambience – The décor is simple yet inviting: warm wood tones, comfortable booths, and Tamil hits playing softly in the background. It feels casual enough for a quick biryani fix yet welcoming for family gatherings.
• Value – Portions are generous, prices are fair (especially considering Bay Area rents!).
Dhindigul Thalappakatti has managed to bottle up the essence of home-style Tamil cooking and bring it thousands of miles to Milpitas. For authentic biryani, soul-soothing soup, and warm hospitality, it’s simply unbeatable. Highly recommended!
I visited Dindigul Thalappakatti for the first time today, encouraged by strong recommendations from friends and positive online reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had expected.
The food overall did not meet the standard in terms of quality or taste. The Chicken Suka felt odd and completely out of place as an appetizer — if it isn’t intended as a starter, it should be served with roti or rice to make sense. The Chicken Biryani was disappointing — either the meat wasn’t fresh or had been overcooked, possibly from the previous day. The flavor didn’t come close to the standards we’re used to, even compared to places in the Bay Area.
A friend dining with me, who visits regularly and is a big fan of the Kola Biryani, was also left disappointed with the food today. The Paratha wasn’t properly cooked, and there seemed to be no thought put into the serving sequence — appetizers, main course, and dessert were all jumbled together. Even the Mutton and Chicken Suka dishes didn’t feel like appetizers at all; only the Chicken 65 stood out as decent.
To make things worse, the service felt disorganized — dishes arrived at random, and at times we were served curry with no rice or bread to go with it.
Most concerning of all, I experienced health issues shortly after dining, including vomiting and diarrhea, which raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene.
This was a very disappointing and unfortunate first experience. I genuinely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and reviews both kitchen practices and overall dining service.
Sukha chicken was decent, ret everything was not aligned with my taste bud. Black pepper chicken, gobhi Manchurian, ghee and podi dosa, kottu paratta all were okay. Most of the food was just reheated and served. There was one more chicken appetizer with coconut and red chili that was ok as well.
