The food was ok. Smothered pork chops were tender but the gravy wasn’t thick like I like it. Mac and cheese and candied yams were somewhat bland. The star of the show was the red kool-aid. Go figure.

D & K Soul Food is amazing. My family & I flooded the restaurant on Sunday for the all you can eat soul food buffet. There was @ least 50+ of us celebrating my Dad’s 70th Birthday. When I tell u Chef Debra is so awesome. She has such a comforting infectious spirit which is very inviting/loving & she treats you like family. I absolutely adore/love her. That’s just the beginning. Her food, “oh my word”. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, & cooked to perfection. We were served fried chicken, baked chicken, grilled salmon w/yellow herb rice & pineapple mango chutney, macaroni & cheese, sweet potatoes, string beans w/smoked turkey & potatoes, salad, & garlic bread. For dessert we had peach cobbler. There was also coffee & punch. Chef Debra laid it alll out & not one thing lacked. Not to mention the reasonable price. The restaurant in itself is just very clean & well put together. Her husband is also very kind & helpful. If you haven’t visited D & K Soul Food…you’re definitely missing out. Oh & during the week they have great lunch/daily specials.

I ordered my food over the phone, told the young lady that I had to be back at work at 11:50, she assured me that the food would be ready in 15 minutes. The 15 minutes turned into over a half an hour. I left the store with no food, lunch break over, and late getting back to work. The man didn’t apologize or anything, just said “I refunded your money”. I really try to support black businesses but this is a prime example why we can’t grow

First time visiting D&K Soul Food and it was delicious! We got

Romaine lettuce, roasted garlic, carrots, Parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing and a
Jerk Chicken Wrap
Romaine lettuce, roasted peppers, carrots, cheddar cheese, Jerk chicken and Jerk ranch dressing
both came with chips. We also ordered 4 Wings chicken only and a bottle of OBAMA sweet tea.
Both wraps were bursting with flavor and lots of chicken, sauces and veggies! Jerk had some spice to it but not too overly hot but I’m sure if you want it really hot that can be accomplished. The Caesar was a true Caesar salad in a wrap! Their meats are very well seasoned and not overly salty. I would prefer the wrap wrapped tighter so all the goodness doesn’t fall out . We tried the wings and they were good and fresh . No need to add anything on top because the breading was nicely seasoned! The wings were small which was my only issue .lol The sweet tea was banging but definitely not an everyday drink . We will be going back and trying the fish and more ! ♀️

The yams were mashed not cut like candied yams. The Mac and cheese was creamy but bland.
The shrimp were flavorless
The green beans were sweet and prepared like mixed vegetables and the tea tasted like tea soda and not tea. I’ve never had carbonated tea.. I also had catfish and greens it was ok.

This was me and my sister’s first time coming here. Felicia provided excellent customer service over the phone as well as in the restaurant. The food was really good as well. We had smothered pork chops, Mac and cheese with yams. We will be coming back!! ❤️

It was worth every penny. The food was amazing and made me feel like I was at my grandparent’s house. 21 million views from my reviews. So trust me when I say this. Best kept secret in Gary or maybe even Chicagoland people. Yes, you may have to wait for the food just trust me it’s worth it. I spent 55.00 but as you can see we want leftovers. This also includes dessert !! Our first experience was 4 month’s ago the egg rolls had been great.

The food looked and smelled so amazing …I forgot to take a picture before I ate it!!! I had the turkey feast and my son had jumbo jerk shrimp dinner. The soul food egg rolls were delicious too! And don’t let forget that tea… Omg! Great customer service and atmosphere…will most definitely go back!!

I pass this restaurant often and finally decided to stop after church. I am extremely disappointed. I got smothered chicken, rice with gravy and macaroni and cheese. Rice was hard, macaroni was dry and chicken was cold. I won’t ever return. So disappointed!
